More on the iPhone Remote App
Once you have downloaded and activated the app, we see new services

Front Page with Vehicle Location
This is the last location when my blue tooth was still connected
I don't have a SIM card in the car
You can click on one of the icons to save your car location and then use the mobile app to help you find a walking route back to your car later.

These are the new remote options.
The Local Google Search was described earlier in this thread
The others are the remote lock/unlock, flash lights and horn and precondition (climate)
I tried the flash but did not dare try the lock and unlock (don't want to somehow lock myself out)

As I don't have a SIM card in the car this remote function is of limited use to me
There is another different app BMW Connected that works with those who have 6NR. I tried this but it didn't work for me

There is a third app called BMW Link which I haven't really played with yet. I think it is meant to be a companion to an iphone holder for those without connected drive but it does seem to have much of the same features ie locate car, etc
