STOMP Features burning Cayman

Friend just SMSed me about this. Apparently features a burning Cayman on STOMP. Here in my office, damn filtering does not allow me access.

Can anyone shed some light? Just caught fire or as a result of a crash? In Singapore or in Malaysia?

TIA!

Porsche explodes in highway crash

STOMPer Iceman was admiring a group of 12 Porsches zooming past him on the expressway, when there was a dramatic turnaround of events. Two of them crashed, with one exploding in flames and another skidding into a ravine.

He encountered this while driving back from KL on the North South Highway. The Porsches were all Singapore registered.

He sent the photos in an email to STOMP today (Feb 24)

"My family and I were driving back from KL on the North South Highway when a group of around 12 Porsche cars came whizzing past (Must be going at least 180!!!). All had singapore plates. There was even a Subaru in the middle of this group.

"They were gone for about 30 mins when we encountered the sight of black smoke and traffic slowdown. When we got closer, we saw that one of the Porsche was burning and another yellow one was in the ravine!

"The entire group of Porsche drivers were standing by the roadside looking at the wreckage. Dunno whether there were any fatalities, but from the looks of the car, totalled!

"Moral of the story: DON'T SPEED!!!!!"

Wow! Cant see the pictures (curse you office IT admin!!) but the text is dramatic!!

Re: STOMP Features burning Cayman

Read the story in vagsg.

Someone in the convoy said:
Both Drivers were out safe. No serious injuries, one passenger alittle shaken.

Cars were coming back from a drive. Not Sepang Supercar event.

Car did not explode. Engine caught fire and slowly burnt to the ground.

Yes, I was part of the convoy...I was quite far behind and came up to the wreck with drivers by the side already.

Dun hv the yellow one in STOMP.

Re: STOMP Features burning Cayman

Apparently there was a proton that did the usual "boh chap and come into the right lane without looking' manouver. Caused red, white and yellow to all stomp on their brakes with yellow (the third car in the sequence) avoiding the first two and thus ended up in the ravine..

No one hurt other than 1 slightly bruised yellow cayman passenger.

Re: STOMP Features burning Cayman

hmmmm, should we be worried about Cayman? where is he?

Re: STOMP Features burning Cayman

I hope they really F the proton driver man..

Re: STOMP Features burning Cayman

it's amazing how someone's stupidity causes misery to others...fking sick!

Re: STOMP Features burning Cayman

Am sure the proton driver just carried on his merry way....

And I guess if you are in a high speed convoy like this, it is your responsibility to ensure that you leave enough of a gap to the chap in front. There is always an idiot proton that you will encounter on any of these high speed runs on the NS.

Re: STOMP Features burning Cayman

Will the comments in STOMP affect the insurance claims for the cars involved?

To be fair, its not juz Protons ... i've seen my fair share of trucks, buses doing that. BIG SUVs and "sports" trucks (land cruisers .. etc) seem to have the thickest skull thinking that 150-160 is a justifiable speed to hog the right lane.

Re: STOMP Features burning Cayman

its the gap. convoy gap too small...most like to keep the gaps small so that others cant come in...but this is the result.

Re: STOMP Features burning Cayman

Actually my experience is that the SG plated cars are the worst. Little NS experience.

Some drive sit in the right lane at 111.1kmh. Macham PIE hoggers at 91.1kmh. Their God given right to sit in the lane cos it is the fastest they can legally go at....

Totally agree, just like this morning was on my way to work and behind came an ambulance blaring with sirens wailing all and I immediately gave way to it. However the cars infront of me on the right lane were just taking their own sweet time travelling at 90km/h.... WTF??

Re: STOMP Features burning Cayman

SG cars r the worse to encounter...especially coming back passing malacca. they think that doing 130kmh on 110kmh means they r oredy very fast on the NS.
