SG cars r the worse to encounter...especially coming back passing malacca. they think that doing 130kmh on 110kmh means they r oredy very fast on the NS.
Not trying to be an arse or anything but the worse I have seen are the ones who try to speed up. Really appreciate that gesture but not when it takes them a gazillion seconds to reach from 110km/h to 180km/h.....

Re: STOMP Features burning Cayman

don't blamed on others (the proton), that is a cayman for god sack. even a bus or tuck pulls into your lane, a PORKY should be able to hand any sort of emergency. only blame is who is driving it. in-experience driver convoy in high speed is always dangerous.

Agreed with TOTO, they should kept a good distant between cars.

Anyway, this is what I saw while I was coming back from Malacca passing the scene @ 2:16 PM

i dont like convoy in general....

Well put it this way, even with good distance between cars all it takes is a goondu driver to cut into your lane while you are charging at 180km/h or more and you will either slam into it, hit the railings on the right, hit the rear of a vehicle on the left lanes or end up in the ditch.

Regardless is it a porky or a perodua with 455mm 24 piston full carbon ceramic brakes.

no worrries, one day one of their loved ones will be in the back of an ambulance, then they will realise the importance of moving aside

I saw an ambulance on the CTE once going full noise on the road shoulder, cause no moron would give way, simply amazes me people are like that.

echo that Pak.. if no choice, do really keep a good distance, and keep speed to around 130~150km/h..
true enuf, NS, there's alot of buses, lorries and cars that will zoom out in a sudden, causing panic to fast cars approaching from behind. That's the shit we have to endure for every trip up North and back... :(

Re: STOMP Features burning Cayman

Acupunch passed the accident on NSH and took some pictures. In fact there were 3 porsches altogether or something.

Re: STOMP Features burning Cayman

I agree with Acupunch..

Well no point talking about other ppl how they drive, how goondu they are...we cannot control how they drive...BUT! we CAN control how WE drive...so if you want to drive fast ridiculous speed and crash its YOUR problem cos you cannot control yourself and your car. can't blame others.

I am not against anyone who wanna drive fast cos Speed Don't Kill, its Attitude and ego that kills.

Re: STOMP Features burning Cayman

Talking in general and not referring specifically to this case since exact details rarely are known...

Deceleration distances rise as a square of velocity. Avoiding an unpredicted obstacle (ball, bike, car, dog, debris, etc.) is much more difficult at higher speeds vs lower speeds.

Don't see the sense in higher speed cruise. Prefer to stay at much lower speeds, in the non overtaking lane with my favorite music on, or chat with my passenger(s).

Re: STOMP Features burning Cayman

Well I'd like to see the same sentiments when we are driving within legal limits and some dumb ass goondu driver swerves in our lane causing us to crash... Yes we are in control of how we drive and sometimes suffer the consequences but we cannot rule out ignorant drivers.

So shall I blame someone close to me for riding a bike when a car cut into his lane abruptly and slammed on the brakes?

I still miss my mate till today after 8 years.

Re: STOMP Features burning Cayman

This is the reason why i don't drive in malaysia. With the unenforced speed limits, i know i will be tempted to drive > 200km/h. And i know i do not have the skills to avoid a truck / bus / proton that cuts into my lane at the last minute. Therefore isn't it better to avoid temptation all together?

The problem with convoys is that on one hand you do not want to get too close to the person in front in case some emergency lane change or maneover is required of him. On the other hand, you want to stay within eye contact of the person in front for fear of break contact. This catch 22 situation makes convoying particularly dangerous esp when you add traffic to the mix.

Of course then maybe the solution is to travel alone on the NSH. But then one will have to contend with biker gangs, carjackers, etc as well as the possibility of being stranded alone in a foreign country if an accident occurs.

Re: STOMP Features burning Cayman

in Msia, if accidents.... its always a proton gundooos
in US, if its a crime... its always A BLACK MAN doings!!!

come on ppl, accident happens all the time
stop blaming and drive safely!!

i agree wif Barry, we don't know the circumstances of the accident also.

Re: STOMP Features burning Cayman

Barry, there is risk in everything we do. We all take risks, sometimes unknowingly. But in areas that we've considered seriously, or been made aware by being told, or reading/seeing ourselves, it is up to us to minimize the risk with what we can control. There are always things beyond our control though, and that's life. It's all shades of gray. Very rarely is the blame with one side purely. In the case of your friend, it overwhelmingly lays with the driver of the car if he jumped on the brakes for nothing. At the same time the statistics for motorbike injuries and deaths are not as good as with cars, which is why many moms hate if their son wants to ride a bike, and why some parents forbid it.

Sorry for your loss.

Understood and completely agree, perhaps its because of my loss that I have a strong view of errant or ignorant drivers who have totally no regards for fellow road users.

Yet again with that being said my personal views are kept strictly to myself and is not forced onto anyone.

so is it centurion???

It is not Centurion. From the red brakes and the rims the white pcar is probably a cayman S. Centurion has a cayman.

The best thing ever taught to me about convoy driving:

The responsibility of any driver in convoy is to keep the car behind in sight. Once the car behind lags too far behind, it is your responsibility to inform the lead car to slow down cos contact is being broken.

Came from the lead driver of our group of convoy leaders when on a Porsche Travel Service trip in Germany.

Re: STOMP Features burning Cayman

if anything the fault is minimal with the proton if thats really what happened. now b4 anyone thinks i m saying this bcos i hate porkies....let me say i hv driven at more than 250kmh on the NS b4. n thats freaking crazy i know...n highly illegal n dangerous.

the NS hishway has a limit at 110kmh. most of the overtaking get done at 130kmh to 140kmh...n then the cars go back in. i m sure all of us who hv driven the NS knows n can judge cars coming at 130...u see them u peel off. now how many of us hv seen a convoy coming thru at 180? u know how fast that closes down on u?

the proton may hv misjudged....but surely excessive speeding with not enuf gaps caused the accident. its the fault of the speeding cars for sure.

of cos purely based on what i hv read....i dunno the real story.
