Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

I have to realistic... it is going to take a miracle for Arsenal to beat Barca tonight especially now that there are so many players out injured. It's going to be a nervy day.

Champs League not for English teams this season... The class is wider than the English Channel.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

"It will be difficult. We have the experience and we are hoping that will be vital in the end," said Steven Gerrard. "But I think it will go down to the wire.
"To give ourselves a better chance, we had to take maximum points against Birmingham.
"It's going to be really hard now. But I think what you notice is the race for fourth place seems to change from week to week."

JUST DON'T THROW AWAY ANYMORE MATCHES BEFORE THE BIG ONE W CHELSEA!!! :)

they r really in self denial. i cant see how they can still clinch 4th. its togh enough as it is winning all the matches and possibly not securing 4th spot, yet they can still drop points like bird droppings.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Have not watched the game yet, but heard over the radio that Almunia let one through his legs. :p

True?

Yes, but to be fair... I dont think he was faulted for that goal.

Absolutely, how many times have Arsenal conceded because of poor goalkeeping??? Wenger has given enough time for Almunia to prove himself but he is not a top class goalkeeper. He is good enough to be the 2nd goalkeeper.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Arsenal were beaten by a more superior team.

Apart from the first goal that Arsenal conceded (terrible mistake by Silvestre), the other 3 goals were very well taken by Messi.

i believe wengers thinking is more for bolstering his midfield and attack. with such offense keeper will not be tested. but every so often such incidents will happen and it will haunt the keeper.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

To be fair to Almunia, think he did very well over the two legs, esp the 1st half of the 1st leg at Emirates. I would be blaming the defense...they couldn't keep up with Barcelona's movement..superb.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

No surpirses. Everything about arsenal since the departure of several key players e.g. vieria, henry, pires and subsequently not spending $ to bring in good experienced talents has resulted to mediocracy. Again no surprise there and reaching CL 1/4 finals or 2~3rd spot in league is already very good results considering the $ invested and imo as far as wenger can bring the kids.
