yeah... But there is always the threat of Galactico's calling. Beckham, Rudd and Ronaldo are recent examples. Rooney next?

this is very true in every business and sport...Short term success / result is of utmost importance.
i wouldnt say its not a good idea. just look at arsenal, young strong squad, but always falling short when push comes to shove. some experience does count.

Man U were toothless in front of goal without Rooney.

really lacking striking options

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Blackburn did run their hearts out, and closed down Man U very well. At other times, they just sat back and waited for Man U to come at them. Their records at home this year has been good, 32 out of possible 42 before this game.

Looks like gotta wait longer for #19.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

liverpool also liao! play like they r all walking alone....

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Man City are in red hot form right now... interestingly they will be hosting Man U in the next game.

It looks certain that Man City will clinch the 4th spot.

4th spot is out of their reach... at the current form, they may even lose out of the Europa Cup spot.

Derby games are full of passion.

Normally, recent form is not a good indicator. Hope the real Man U turns up for this weekend.

Fergie throws in title towel | The Sun |Sport|Football

ALEX FERGUSON admits Manchester United's title push is all but over.
This disappointing draw leaves Fergie's men one point behind Chelsea - but the Blues have a game in hand.

The United boss said: "It is going to be very difficult to win this league.

"It has slipped away from us today. We have a lifeline if Chelsea blow it.

"They have an easy game against Bolton on Tuesday which we'd expect them to win and that will put them four points clear.

"This was not the result we wanted. Blackburn is a difficult place for everyone to come to.

"The standard of the pitch is not very good. It is lively and lacks a decent surface.

"We had so many opportunities in the last third and our decision-making has let us down. That was disappointing."

A bad day at the office for the Old Trafford gaffer was complete after Rio Ferdinand, John O'Shea and Ryan Giggs all picked up knocks.

Fergie added: "Ryan has a hamstring, then John got injured and then Rio.

"Effectively, we had 10 men on the pitch. Rio dislocated his finger but ended up with a groin injury.

"We have a derby against City next week which takes away the business of chasing the league.

"It will be entertaining in terms of pride for the fans."
