Leslie Ash: My life as a footballer's wife | Media | The Guardian

"In Footballers' Wives everyone appears to be having an illicit affair with everyone else, nipping off for a few hours of passion with the new Italian signing. In my day, a few - one or two - of the wives might have had affairs, but mostly they were totally devoted to their husbands. When Lee was at Leeds a horrible rumour came out that I was having an affair with Eric Cantona after he left. They put it about that I was the reason Cantona left Leeds. Of course I didn't have an affair with him. The same thing happened to two other players' wives, but because I was on TV it stuck with me."

Cant open the link ... maybe the rumour wasnt true ... but it was great fun laughing about it back then.

I think Cantona was an inspirational player/captain for Manu. Cant think of a better one (maybe Keano) in recent times. He had flair and (irritatingly) started the turned-up collar trend.

I guess Arsenal's equivalent would beTony Adams or Denis Bergkamp.

For Chelsea, it would probably be Zola or Gullit

Chelsea sibeh lucky. Damn it

Now that you mention, it's true they always are able to "miss" top teams in the last 16.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

I was keeping my fingers crossed that Arsenal get Shalke or Bayern.

Now it seems that Arsenal got the toughest draw. Barca Damn Siong! This match should be a final like in '06

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Barcelona will teach Arsenal how to play the flaboyant passing game AND achieve results !!!

Effectively, they are playing the same game, but the difference is the final execution.
