The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Which team wobbles? From curtain raiser till now, City, Utd, Pool and Chelsea had silverware of some sort.

I quite like pool... Simply unpredictable and spectacular, consistently inconsistent. More importantly they have a great history which more than qualifies them to make up the numbers in the league.

Many pages back as well Mark,

Back in November, when Tottenham was thriving and had just defeated the Gunners, English wonderkid Jack Wilshere placed a bet with the Spurs’ fans on who would finish on top at the end of the season.

Jack Wilshere made this pledge on Twitter: “All Spurs fans are buzzing they are ahead of us in the league,”he wrote. “It’s a marathon, not a sprint.”

“At the end of the season if Spurs finish above Arsenal I will give 3,000 pounds to charity and if Arsenal finish above Spurs every Spurs fan that follows me must send me a pound which I will send to charity.”

Now that the season is over and Arsenal are on the third place, while Tottenham, from the fourth place, still have to wait to see whether Chelsea wins the Champions League or not. This means that Tottenham’s fans will all have to put a quid in a fund and give the money to charity.

What a great guy. Pity he didn't play a single minute of the 2011/2012 season.

I've been a Scouser since the days of Souness, Dalglish and ilk. It was the era where we could do no wrong... When my favourite niece told me she was considering Uni of Manchester vs Liverpool Uni, I told her I wouldn't attend her graduation if she chose the former.

I attended her graduation in 2010 and paid homage to Anfield :)

Chelsea or Bayern ?

my pick Chelsea & under

But looking at handicap, Chelsea seems unlikely..
afternoon odds swaying to Chelsea, that means Chelsea heavy.

if they can hold till extra time, they will prob win it, penalty kicks favors away team
though German are pretty good at it.

if QPR can do so well, Chelsea should be able too

i think chelsea will win too ....... bayern is heavily favoured..especially with the "home" advantage + 4 chelsea players suspended....

my choice is just based on trends la...past few seasons whoever knocks out barca wins the UCL ... Man Utd(barca semis) in 2008 ... Barca (bo lang knock them out) won in 2009 ... Inter (barca semis) 2010 ... Barca (bo lang knock them out again) 2011 ... Chelsea 2012?!!? unless the trend breaks this yr then i suay la... lol

tikam for fun...

Trend not valid lah, LOL, only 2 occurences......

As strange that both are not Champions (in their domestic league), Bayern is heading into the final after a nightmare after the 5-2 loss in the hands of Dortmund. Chelsea is heading into the final with heads high after Di Matteo took over (at least the politcally influential players like Drogba & Lampard).

But you cannot ignore the following:

(1) Bayern's homeground advantage
(2) Chelsea missing Terry, Ivanovic, but more important, Ramirez and Meireles

It will be a good game, and if it goes into penalty, I think Neuer is a better stopper than Cech. Still, the ball is round.

My bet is Bayern 2 Chelsea 0 at full time.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Oh, BTW, if Bayern loses, then it is an "eerie" repeat of 2009-2010 season:

(1) Man Utd second in BPL
(2) Arsenal third
(3) Spurs fourth
(4) Chelsea won FA Cup
(5) Athletico Madrid won Europa

A bit too coincidental.....
