TOo much brake dust!! Solution?

The Pagid brake pads are just such a nuisance although the bite is great.

Any other recommended pads to replace OEM brake pad for E60?

Re: TOo much brake dust!! Solution?

Brake dust is inevitable. Perhaps try spraying wheel protectant. I think armour all and few other brand make them.

This should reduce the amount of brake dust bonding with your rims. This is sort of your car wax equivalent.

its a common misconception, wheel waxes prevents brake dust from removing the clear coat and eventually causing rust to rims. it does not minimise brake dust buildup.

That is interesting.

I've been using it for quite some time on the Evo IX track car. On a weekly basis, the rims are not as dirty as compared with no protectant.

Upon spraying, a generous amount of brake dust seems to come off easily along with a little bit of scrubbing to finish it off.

With no wheel protectant spray, the brake dust sticks on the rims even after scrubbing with a sponge. A brush is needed most of the time to rid it.

Its been about 3 years so far with no rust.

Did your rims rust after using wheel protectant ?

you pretty much reaffirmed what i said. notice that with wax on ur rims the brake dust comes off easily. thats exactly what the wax is meant to do, prevent brake dust from settling onto the rim and eating through the clear coat. wit the protective layer dust is easier to wash off. but in no way does it minimise amount of brake dust.

my rims dun rust as i wash them religiously once a week.

I think I may have misread your initial post. I was under the impression that you said wheel wax removes clear coat.

I agree with you that wheel wax does not minimise the amount of brake dust being emitted.

As mentioned earlier on, wheel wax can only reduce the amount of brake dust bonding with your rims.

The amount of brake dust emitted from pads will remain unchanged.

Re: TOo much brake dust!! Solution?

Ok will try the carbon brake pad later.
no longer on wrx/evo/s2k now so squeeling sound doesn't gel with the 5er image.. :D
As for the wheel wax.. will try when I'm free. As said, it does not reduce the amount of brake dust generated but perceived reduction is probably due to non settlement of generated dust onto the rim surface which got dust off inhigh spin action..

Re: TOo much brake dust!! Solution?

Other than Cool Carbon, anyone tried other brands? What's the damage range like for CC? Dun ask me to call Boss. This is free market, and this isn't sponsored folder. Thanks and appreciate all feedback.

Slater, from HWZ since 1996?

Re: TOo much brake dust!! Solution?

Well, u could try Textar, which is another OEM brand. It should be better than Pagid.
