When Top Gear tested it, the MP4 was 3 secs faster than the 458. I think Fifth Gear was also using the Top Gear track, but they prob came up with a different layout and they tested the MP4 to be slower than the 458.. Drivers' skills? One thing we can't argue is the 458 brings more smiles per miles than the MP4..

Is there such a thing as "too fast" or "too powerful"? Sometime back, 400hp in a car would be rare.. now most decently fast cars have min 400hp. Word is even the next M3 will be pushing 450hp.. 700hp would be unheard of in the past. Now, it's available (Avantedor, Huayra will be entry level supercars) to anyone who has the cash, not a racing license. Let's not even get to 0-100 in under 3 secs in a car u can buy at Tan Chong Motors!

From the TG review - this left me dumbfounded. Thought we had enough of the turbo-bashing... This is the conclusion of the test they talk about here

But the turbo-tastic nature of the MP4-12C just doesn't cut it. It feels faintly - and this'll cause a few shakes of the head - faintly £70k Nissan GT-R-ish in terms of delivery. Astonishing, but faintly industrial. It doesn't sing. Or involve like the Ferrari. Or like a McLaren, for that matter. If the MP4-12C were a naturally aspirated, operatic sliver of pure inspiration, then this would be a different story. But it never seems to be enjoying itself, so the Ferrari feels more thrilling for more of the time. To get the sense of wonder from the MP4-12C, you have to be totally engaged; the Ferrari is a huge grin-inducer under 60mph.
So we're going to ignore the empirically ‘better' car, and choose to take home the car that delivers a sucker punch to the soul - the Ferrari 458 Italia. Because sometimes winning isn't just about being faster.
