At the end of the day, after much reflection, I realised it would be quite hurtful for Mdm. Lim & the family of the late taxi driver, to be reminded of the accident over and over, either through the graphic video capture of the moment of the crash, or from reading various comments (both in support and/or otherwise) about it.
I further realised that there's the feelings of the innocent family of the PRC driver to consider. As much as I have my personal feelings about him causing the accident (via the video capture), I can't help but feel sorry for the wife, the son & the unborn child. They had nothing to do with the PRC driver's idiocy and recklessness, but they are still hurt by the incessant comments (many of which are acerbic, some of which are downright hateful) made about the PRC driver.
Finally, not forgetting the family of the Japanese passenger - surely, in amongst these 2 camps (one for the taxi driver, the other for the PRC man), the innocent passenger's family must be feeling lost, confused & frustrated.
Things have not been made easier for anyone, what with the biased and downright rotten reporting by the so-called 'journalists' of the Propaganda Times, who, for reasons best known to themselves, chose to report on hearsay "he was a righteous man, he was not a heavy drinker", played up the wealth of the PRC "millionaire in his 30s driving a million dollar car" and could not, for the life of them, focus on factual, unbiased and clear reporting. This only served to fan the flames of discontent amongst certain readers (myself included).
I guess being the sole 'approved' Propaganda organ, with no FT competition (since no other licence would be awarded) has blunted whatever little journalistic skill & erased whatever journalistic integrity there's left in these 'reporters'. They are perhaps better at chasing 48 masked & hooded men, snapping away at blurry shadows of these same 48 men scurrying away from the Sub. Courts, than they are at writing a decent piece of news.
So, given all these factors above - especially given the needless, senseless, tragic loss of 3 lives (yes, Ma Chi's included), I humbly apologize for my own comments, especially if they've offended anyone here, directly or indirectly. Furthermore, I shall refrain from further comments in this thread - enough is enough, and I think it's time I let the families grieve in peace.
Your mileage may vary, and I respect that.
