tyres for 1 series

Hi friends! I'm currently using Continental CSC5 size 225/45-17 on my 1 series hatch. Unfortunately the tyre noise (roaring road noise) on these can be quite unbearable at times. Only done 10k on the tyres.

Any recommendation for other brands of tyres? I understand some noise is expected for this size and for smaller cars but its becoming quite annoying.

Anyone had experience switching to non runflat or even downsizing? Not sure if the wheel can fit a 205 width and if it will help reduce noise. Thanks.
 
Have switched from original Conti runflats to Conti non runflats. Then switched to Pirellis but 18s. Then Now Michelin. Do find Pirellis has more grip and Michelins more steering feedback. As for noise, most tyres that hits certain mileage definitely will have more noise. You may switch to comfort tyres or tyres with higher profile if noise is a concern.

Same sentiments as whiskie.
I have CSC and Michelin, both are great tyres. But depend on what you prefer.
Michelin more grip less noise, CSC grip noise but cheaper.
CSC better wet control i guess?
 
Don't just compare the brand. U need to select the correct model to suit ur needs
 
Tried several tyres in my few old BMW before. Bridgestone are quiet new but grow noisy after 10k km. Continental is bad if you prefer quietness. Pirelli is ex and run out fast though grip is good. Tried Dunlop several years back quiet yes, but roadholding lose out to the rest. Had a couple change with Goodyear Assurance on my 520 and it worked well, comfort, quiet, life, though not really a performance tyre. Had bad experience with Michelin so avoid them now esp they are XX. Had a set of Goodyear AS2 and they were great!!! Now waiting to try Goodyear AS3 as a few friends love it. Currently running Conti front (waiting to wear them out as it came with rim) and Pirelli P7 back 255/40R18 both RF. Waiting to change to normal tyre Goodyear AS3 is what I would to for.
 
Time to change all 4 tyres....Stock Rim square setup - 225/45 R17.

Some shop say no need RFT some say better to have RFT cause no spare tyre...

Personally think with RFT without any spare tyre can drive with ease of mind.

Any suggestion to go RF or not?
