I believe the insulator is more to reduce noise(absorbs engine noise), rather than insulate heat from the engine.

the insulator is definitely for sound. under www.realoem.com, it is listed under
VEHICLE TRIM => INSULATION => SOUND INSULATING FRONT

Drivemax, does your car still sound like taxi? Mine is equally loud. not sure if the insulator helps.

Well, it may also be useful in protecting the bonnet's shiny paintwork from all that heat coming up from the engine bay.

It may be different for bimmers, but my experience with my previous car was that the bonnet insulators don't help much when it comes to reducing engine noise. Think what goes into the firewall between the engine bay and passenger compartment is more relevant for sound insulation.

The noise reduced slightly but not significant. The obvious part is that
the bonnet is not hot after a long drive.

yeap, they are US$. don't ask me how to place order. the website doesn't allow me to do so.
anyway, if you do the conversion, it is around 60 bucks. add the air freight, 85 plus bucks is about right price.

sorry, no. I am referring to the 85.5. when I typed, my previous reply, I was referring to the 85 plus bucks. I have amended my previous posting.

Hi Guys, this is the actual break down cost,

1) Bonnet insulator 1 qty S$86.40
2) Bumper Rivet (clips) 6 qty S$4.08
3) Total S$90.48 after 10% discout is S$81.43.
4) With 5% GST is S$85.50.

Hi. Got the bonnet insulator today. Can I ask which is the front side and back. The parts guy wasn't too sure. Is the side with the sticker label the back?

Had mine installed yesterday. If there is any improvement, its quite marginal. Can't really tell but maybe I am less sensitive. What are those who have the insulator? Was there any noticeable improvement?

but its nice to know got some cushion there... so got some psychological effect

Sound wise can't really tell much... less noticeable.
At least it will safe the paint from the engine heat in the long run.

Got mine installed last week. The insulator does reduce the heat transfer to the bonnet. Im not sure about reducing the engine sound but it seems to me that it did a better job with the heat insulation rather than sound.
