Re: Used Granturismo or GTR?

just to ride along this thread a little, any known problems with the maser gt 4.2?

compared with the new 911S PDK, which one would you guys go?

Re: Used Granturismo or GTR?

can only comment on the GTR since I have never sat/drive the Maserati b4.. might be a bit biased... :oooops:

the GTR suspension is really quite hard for daily driving... the rear passenger will probably hit the roof whenver the car goes over some bumps... and the rear seats get "auto heating" near the calf area... quite uncomfortable..

but for the driver, i suppose the power will make up for everything

exhaust note wise, i have heard very nice "v" sound from the GTR... on the other hand, the maser sounds very nice but sometimes the sound so loud and drama but the car like not really moving, feels a bit "unglam"...

my 2 cents... :blahblah:

Re: Used Granturismo or GTR?

GTR has changed the game for high performance sportscar makers in many way IMO. For half the price of an exotic or less, you get equivalent performance (and better against some), a decent boot and 2 extra poodle seats. Only issue for most I feel is the branding (Japanese/Nissan after all) and the looks of it for some (subjective anyway). Maintenance wise is not bad...the M5 is a lot worse.

Really depends on what you are looking for. Pure performance? No question the GTR. Looks? subjective. Branding/Prestige/Conti feel...likely the maser. Exhaust note...maser but aftermkts on the GTR can narrow the gap somewhat but the GTR will never have the sweet V8 sound.

The price point you are looking at 300-400k puts you in play for masers, non-turbo porkers, V8 R8 and maybe some older AM V8 4.3s.

Personally, I'm also in a dilemma. I like those cars but none of them can match the performance of my GTR. Hence, I am more keen to look at bulls and horses (probably a horse for me) but they are obviously at a higher price point.

Good luck in your search! Both are great cars in their own ways.

Cheers.

Re: Used Granturismo or GTR?

Maserati is all looks, sorry but I hope I'm not offending anyone. The GTR is all about substance. If it was me I would take the GTR without a second thought.

Maserati's will not hold their value well unfortunately. As for the 911, well I am biased :p

Nice analysis. As for me though, I would not be too keen on a horse. Had one, and it was absolutely the dogs balls... and Ital Auto aren't making any friends with their after market support at the moment. I will any day go to Melvin and get true service as well know that I am buying reliability in the form of the bull (though they still suffer from problems, the fact that Toto keeps thrashing his with little issue is real testament to the fact that they can now hold their own in terms of reliability).

As for the original poster, the poster really need to decide what the car will be for. If just cruising in Singapore, the Maser I guess would be fine as more Singaporeans will like the "hollianness" of the Maser. But for a true performance car experience that will see regular proper thrashings in Malaysia or for someone waiting for the Singapore track to open, I really say that the GTR can't be touched.

Re: Used Granturismo or GTR?

Harold,

Good to see you here too mate! (Z33 here from porker forum, my nick here is an old one).

Hear you on the horses and have been hearing about Ital's issues as well. The bull looks like a 'safer' buy in terms of after-sales support, customer experience and of course a lot higher OMVs! The other issue I considered was the DNA of the G and LP560 aren't too different or far apart (Lambo owners can correct me if I am wrong) whereas the 458 is a whole different car compared to the 430 (which I am looking at).

Catch up with you soon.

Cheers,
B/Z33

What was wrong with it anyway? Curious.
