Watermarks - Removal Methods ?

Perhaps this is a very peculiar problem, but I am curious, how do you remove stubborn watermarks/water stains on the windscreen/windows?

Test the traditional vinegar/cider on a small patch, did not work.

Re: Watermarks - Removal Methods ?

Hey bro. If you got the Zaino AIO give it a shot. If not you need a glass polish haha

Re: Watermarks - Removal Methods ?

Tried some "Industrial Strength Glass Stains Cleaner" - did not help. Even tried newspapers.

I have AIO - will try this weekend.

Re: Watermarks - Removal Methods ?

Change new windscreen. If that doesn't work, change new car.

Re: Watermarks - Removal Methods ?

No, I think it is the forum's fault. Should change forum.

Re: Watermarks - Removal Methods ?

Well if its etched into the windscreen you need an abrasive. Most cleaners are largely chemical based.

The AIO is a strong chemical cleaner + mild abrasive so its a good start. Use some force when rubbing it. If doesn't come out then er you need a dedicated glass polish. Zaino makes one i think. Never tried though. AIO usually takes out everything for me

Re: Watermarks - Removal Methods ?

Its only on the spot where Ken's hands cannot reach cos too short.

Re: Watermarks - Removal Methods ?

in my experience, actually those watermarks on glass either windscreen or windows are not typical watermarks

if the paint work has been wax treated during polishing.. it is actually the melted part of the wax from roof paintwork polish after a typical hot day followed by rain. wax melted and get carried by rain water and stain the glass.. they are hard to remove without polishing it off.

On my previous ride i had zymol (carnauba base wax) treated on the paint work. and i have tonnes of watermarks on all the glasses and a real eye sore. very difficult to polish off. i tried all kinds of polishes, finally i rid the car to rid the eye sore.

my current ride, i stayed away from wax polishing since day 1... till date after almost 3 years.. not a single water marks on the screens and windows.. same open parking space. I use nano coat type paint protection these days only.

if you wanna wax, dry it immediately after rain..or else stay away from those natural wax based polish.

Re: Watermarks - Removal Methods ?

Hmm.... since its glass, Mama Lemon aka "Dawn" should be able to get it off. Else could be what zag says.

Re: Watermarks - Removal Methods ?

Is it possible to try some of those white liquid get the stains off? I heard quite acidic and possible. Need someone to try and feedback.

3M? Sponge Sanding Pad - Micro Fine

use only on the windows n mirrors. dun use it on paint work unless you like scratch n swirls.

i was advised to use this with running water when rubbing on the windscreens or windows. worked for me.

Re: Watermarks - Removal Methods ?

Kenn,
I had some "scratch" marks due to a faulty wiper blade. Googled and finally ended up using Meguiars scratchX with a orbital. Wah I was quite amazed with the results. Glass looked really good after. It really reduced the marring. I think it should solve the stains.
Good luck!
