Like I said before, this Singapore Conversation crap is just theatrics. They interviewed 40,000 people, which is less than 1% of the resident population, and now this report about a "majority" is based on a sample size of 4,000.

I actually belong to the minority 1%....whenever I'm on hols...I always hv the same thoughts..wtf 800k-1mil for a HDB, $200k onwards for your choice of wheels..that kind of money can buy you a nice hse and super car in most liveable countries..after hols, less than a mth back home, c car, c watch knn

I guess you will be complaining about the 47.5% tax and people living on your share of social security then you have a nice house and super car in those livable countries.

sometimes, I wonder a lot too. Then I wake up to a country which is already one of the best in this world at this point in time and thank god, government and the elders who slogged before me.

even if we didnt want to, our region is in for a volatile/slow period. Aussie, Ringgit, Rupiah, ruppee all getting smashed n facing outflows..

even our USDSGD last yr was 1.22 now is 1.28, thats a big decline in S$ purchasing power which media isnt even covering. Instead i read abt it being cheaper to travel to nearby places for holiday. FFS most of our trades r in USD n our imports r suffering yet media is telling us to go for holiday? lol.. ok anywhere but US i guess

remember 98 n hope it doesnt happen again

haha im just ranting abt d dubious articles being churned recently...

ask any indo businessman n theyre all running scared looking for US$... on surface all seems well but down below is pretty messed up. Hope this dont get worse frm here.

Slow down does not mean lower life quailty. BTW only Norway gives 40 percent of pay for tax. But they are well taken care of. Lots of free health insurance, education , pension , free for giving birth etc. They are paid highly so even with 40 percent tax they are still living comfortably. We say that we pay little tax but we are tax in different things that some people don't know. Car tax and only drive for 10 years. Housing tax, ERP, road tax , insurance. Talk about road tax for BMW it's only few hundred dollars a year as well as insurance. How much are we paying for a housing that are only lease hold. We are actually paying more than 40 percent tax.
