what is wrong??

a month back, my cheapo e90 was running out of coolant, engine lights on and can only accelerate up to 50Km/h. It was a sunday so i call up PML towed my car.

After they checked everything, which i think its the truth, all my gasket, radiator and whatever that links to the coolant is damaged.

No question ask and i told them to procced. I even told them to service the car. Total amount was nearly to S$5,000

TODAY, my engine oil light is up. Did the on board check.... to my suprised, it indicate at the MIN LEVEL!!!!

so guys, i need your help, what could possibly went wrong here??

what i can think of,
- if there is leakage, why i didnt see any oil in my car pouch?
- or why didnt they noticed it when my car was there for 3 days?
- or they did drained it out but forget to top it up?

tomorrow i will bang table early in the morning!!!

Re: what is wrong??

how long was it since ur engine oil top up?

your ride was sent in for other fixes rather than regular service. low levels of engine oil will not be monitored.

our rides operate on a higher temperature and its quite common for engine oil top ups

Re: what is wrong??

he told them to service the car liao le.... oil shd be topped up

I suspect something was not checked properly. Or the oil level sensor is screwed. If you are consistently losing oil, get those jokers to do a proper leak down test or compression test to ensure that your engine is not losing oil due to piston rings not able to seal the cylinder anymore, bad intake or exhaust valve, etc. Because if your warranty is running out of time, you have to make sure that they check it thoroughly and properly. Be prepared to expect them to tell you the oil loss is normal being BMW engines. They lose oil very gradually and do not go to minimum suddenly.

If you are getting a lot of smoke from your exhaust, chances are your piston rings are gone. It's hard to speculate but you should get R2D to take a look at your car. He's quite good at letting you know the probable causes of what you are going through. Tomorrow when you bang table hard, I hope to be awaken by that.

Re: what is wrong??

gadaffi, ask for the itemise billing to see if oil was charged for. ask for top up, cant possibly dry up in a month if there is no leak

yes, oil was changed when i checked the bill.

Re: what is wrong??

went there this morning, met the same person. My first question to him, how long can an engine oil last before it reaches to the MIN level??
to my suprised, sir, we did changed and top up for you but here we are having problems with the engine oil. After 3000km, u need to top up another litre of engine oil. I checked my milleage and yes it passed the 3000km mark. He even told me that everyone face the same problem with the in house engine oil.
He was so honest with his advised and he did gave me other alternative which is to get it somewhere.

No more servicing at ...., waste time n money

Re: what is wrong??

This is the most ridiculous comment/allegation from PML...sent this to BMW Asia/AG.. All E90 320i should be recalled immediately starting from mine,

Either the SE is ignorant and giving stupid answers, or PML is really knowingly pouring engine oil that has problem into our engines.....:|...........

Re: what is wrong??

Yesterday was at White Sands taking the lift in the afternoon and overhead someone telling his wife/gf that he needs to call PML to screw them over for something...that person here?

Re: what is wrong??

I would have asked the SE, what brand of cooking oil did you pour into the engine that evaporated so fast?

Seriously what viscocity oil is PML using? Their comment on in-house oil being consumed must be related to viscosity but at that rate something ot somewhere is leaking..

Re: what is wrong??

the honest consultant may be in hot soup / oil for his remarks soon.....:lol2:

seriously, if there is an issue with the existing engine oil that needs topping up every 3k km, I will want to fix it permanently.....

The SE did his job, he did ask me to refer to the manual which stated that after 3000KM, there is a need to top up but why only now i face this problem??
