Sorry for the ambiguity. Nothing wrong with using recommended oil. I'm just saying since ///M did not ban the use of other oils we are free to choose. I don't use things like non-oem filters, brakes etc. I don't know the manufacturers nor how they are made and Munich Auto wouldn't allow it!
The price of the engine oil is negligible compared to the car and in choosing, quality concerns are paramount. BiTOG has plenty of publicly viewable VOAs and UOAs. There are some good oils to choose from there.
