Wrong Battery Change - Start Stop not working

Did anyone experience this when the original bmw agm batt was changed out wrongly to a non agm and then the start stop cannot work.

Really got me worried as the workshop did this and now they are checking whats wrong. They did acknowledge that they change the wrong battery (non agm) but not sure why the start stop cannot work despite putting in the new correct agm battery and even trying the original old bmw agm battery back to test.

Anyone knows whether a wrong battery replacement will cause this kind of problems and issues.

My ride is F30 328i.

Sianz from a simple battery change and this happens.

Appreciate any advise cheers.

The wrong battery installed.

i think registering your battery might help

Thanks..... The workshop tried but the start stop still not working.... Not sure whether they fry anything up. Sigh.

Really disappointed, thought I will have a peace of mind going to this reputable and established workshop and this happens.

Which shop did you go to?

For what it's worth, disabling ASS feature is good. Hated that function so coded that off

I decided not to name the workshop as I am giving them a chance to rectify this. It's one of the bmw specialist workshop here and whole morning till now they are still checking and cannot localise the problem.

Really disappointed.

Workshop just told me need longer time and cannot determine how long to localise the fault.
And told me they will be closing at 3pm and come back another day.

Really disappointed. Lost confidence in the workshop despite buying the warranty package from them previously.

Told the workshop if cannot be done I will send in to Performance Motor for check cos they cannot determine the fault and won't admit that the wrong replacement battery caused the start stop function from working.

Sigh.

Advise from workshop to let it run for a few days mentioning the battery charge is not enough for the start stop to work.

Will cont to monitor

Checked the alternator excitation and target setpoint values ?

Reset accordingly based on which bus user is triggering the ASS off condition.

Clear the histograms for good measure ...

Thanks..... Don't know whether the mechanic knows this. They cited battery need to charge for one to two days as new battery charge is low. Nothing mentioned as alternator excitation and target setpoint values.......

For sure they resetmy ecu cos all the user settings such as daylight are in factory mode as unselected. And this did not help to restore the ASS.

Anyone else in the forum has ever encounter this issue before ie changing of wrong battery and caused the automatic start stop to stop working. :(

Under warranty? If yes go change back ur old battery demand refund and call pml say ur car cant start.

If no, well wait for few days if tt workshop still cnt figure it out go pml. Refund maybe hard for u to get it back.

It's under warranty with the workshop that fix up my battery. Irony right.... :)

I do not like to highlight the workshop here. As I always believe to sort things out with the workshop first and giving them a chance to rectify the issue. But this situation really gave me the bad experience that an established and reputable workshop do not know the technicalities of how a bmw will behave after battery change especially the start stop feature with their most experienced mechanics serving me. I must say after the end of the day the workshop concluded that the car need to run a day or 2 to make the feature work again is a disappointment to me too. If they are expert in bmw they should have told me and their mechanic who is testing and checking my car and running my car out for test drive couple of times from morning till 3pm. While I lost so much confidence that I don't even want to take the risk to go for lunch and monitor the whole situation.

Sigh.
