Managed to see one of the IS today but condition was not really up to standard.
However, saw a E-36 Cabrio that was just sold!!! Arrghhh!!!

Why do i keep missing the cabrio sales.....the one there with coe till 2017.....was sold at $70k.....

the one at the dealer has some engine problems. and the gear shift really cannot make it. cosmetic wise is quite ok though. but engine more impt! i'm in no hurry to buy. looking around slowly for a good one!

yes, tested the car yesterday and enigine sounded bad, possibly overheating problems cos temperature gauge hovering ABOVE halfway line, which is not to be for E-36's...

as for the temp. gauge, it should be a 'hairline' above the centerline
not too sure about my engine, but it purrs like its just ran in at 370,000km

haha....

the one from iguakarz. im totally new to this cars stuff, especially having to check old cars for defects with regards to the engine/gearbox whatever. so i have no idea what to look out for when i go and test the car. any pointers?

what is a good price to pay for this car? approx depreciation?

smoke comes out from the engine when u start it!! the gear box is super loose for gears 1-4 but u gotta be a bit violent to get the box into 5th gear. i didnt test drive the car but these 2 factors are enough to convince me that the car is not worth buying.

but the smoke from the engine? it sounds totally serious. even if can squeeze 25k, 5k can fix up the engine tip top (if workshop manage to find out the cause of it) and gearbox AND wear and tear not? like not enough? im not sure abt bmw maintenance.
