Hi wlkoh, does the muffler improve the performance slightly? Or just the sound? Does it work with the auto-close open of one of the pipe? Where would you go to install it and with LTA approval? Thanks.

Hey there. Answers as follows: -

1) Muffler definitely improves sound and as with most exhaust mods, generally also gives that slight bhp improvement due to better flow.

2)Yes, there is a connector for the valve control.

3) You can install it in most workshops or with Munich depending on your preference. Naturally, each will vary in terms of labour costs. ;-) LTA approval will require an authorization letter from Munich, with which you can then proceed to either Vicom or STA for inspections after the muffler is installed.

Pleasure bro.

Based on my knowledge there's 2 types of LTA approval for exhaust. The first is type approval for the exhaust model against the intended application (car model). This approval is held by the distributor, in this case, Munich; which is the reason why you need the letter from them to certify that the muffler is the same type approved from them.

The second type is individual approval for the muffler being properly installed against a specific vehicle. This approval is tied to each individual vehicle, will only be issued after inspection and cannot be transferred.

Take my case for example, my previous approval for the M Sport is now updated in LTA system to reflect Akra instead.

So you will need that inspection and LTA approval regardless as soon as you switch out of your stock exhaust system.

Bro,

Pardon me if I'm wrong. But certain car got only certain exhaust which can be fitted to. U might need to call Munich and check whether is this exhaust suitable for your car. This happen to me. I sold my Remus quad exhaust to another e90. As told by dealer, as long it's e90 it's ok. In the end, Lta don't approve and say the horsepower is different as his is a newer e90. So cannot fit into the car.
