116d kakis

Re: 116d kakis

Do you keep your "Auto Start/Stop" turned on or off on your 116D?

My own preference is to manually turn it off whenever I start the engine.

My own reasoning (not very technical, just my thought process) for turning it off:

(1) Engine Mount wear will be high - Due to jerking of Engine forward whenever Auto Start
(2) Battery wear higher - Due to constant Auto Start/Stop
(3) Starter Motor additional stress - Due to constant Auto Start/Stop

The $$$ saved for Diesel mostly likely cannot compensate for the cost of earlier replacement for above.

I am wondering what are other drivers with Auto-Start/Stop's thoughts on this?

Congratulations! Did you end up getting their whole list of options? I can't decide if I need larger rims. Not many in Singapore excited about this it seems!

Re: 116d kakis

@Kingkong you heard prices still coming off? I'm stuck here between 116d and golf. Just need a fun car to scoot around in. But the 20k premium over it is ex leh

You can ask your SA to program the car to remember your auto start/stop preference, so you do not need to manually turn it off every time.

The downtime, 1 day. Next day collect car.

Re: 116d kakis

Thanks. Will make request to set "Auto Stop/Start" to Off by default, when go for 1st servicing. Still have 9000km to go .... so in 4 to 5 months time.

Re: 116d kakis

Hi guys! Am considering getting this car. Heard from some friends diesel cars might be noisy. Can all the big brothers and sisters here give me some advice? ;)

Re: 116d kakis

My parents got a 216GT recently and now Im tempted to get the 116d too, with the current prices on the low side

Care to share what you guys like & dislike about the car?

Re: 116d kakis

The stop/start mechanism wl drain out batt fast with other wear and tear components like starter and mountings , even though, the price of petrol and diesel is not much difference in spore, the mileage whch 116d gives ,saves a lot in fuel bills -26km/l, and for diesel engines, the engine overhaul duration is longer than petrol engine, for example if petrol engine has to be overhauled every 150,000kms diesel engines need overhaul only every 250000kms, so u save there too.engine very torquey compared to petrol. If u dont mind the sound of diesel engine i think diesel is a good saver.

Re: 116d kakis
