Hi all,

Just gotten a call from my brother-in-law who's interested in the E60, that there's a batch of Airshow 2008 520i for sale. Does anyone have any idea on the specifications of the car, and is the engine similiar to the previous M54 2.2 Litre.

From what I heard, it comes with front/rear sensors, 16" rims. I pressume the OMV will be lower - the list price is 168K, but the actual selling price is closer to $160K.

Re: Airshow 2008 520i

PML still got sell 520 now ??

Re: Airshow 2008 520i

Heard there are 320i and 520i for the airshow 2008. I think 320i is ok but the 520i will be much under power !

Re: Airshow 2008 520i

Yes there is still 520 just for the Airshow 2008. According to my SE. It is not under power, but still need to test drive to see for yourself.

Re: Airshow 2008 520i

The 520 is a 4cyl block.... I am very surprised that PML has not brought this in earlier... It would out sell the E Class... Though the E200 is a 1.8l block....

But IMHO, at $160k, it would be over priced unless they give nice toys like sun roof and HUD...

Re: Airshow 2008 520i

Hey Derek, how's the Big Pilot? Sold it or still lovin' it?

The 520 info:

1,995cc
125KW or 170 BHP
210Nm

Not bad, almost like the previous 523 figures...

Re: Airshow 2008 520i

I thought 520i is 2.2L engine block? The price is too expensive.. at that price, just buy the new 523i with fridge door and whisker ligths.

Re: Airshow 2008 520i

fyi, according to my SE, the 'new' 520i is a 4 potter 156bhp plant as found in the latest 320i. for the airshow it will not come with 1. xenon 2. anti-glare rearview mirror 3. foldable wing mirror and at the show price of 160k. the current 523i is at 174k and neg, say if you bargain hard to 170k or so, it will still be wiser to get the 523i as the deleted options is about 6-7k already not to forget the main event which is the powerplant! my opinion of course. cheers,

Re: Airshow 2008 520i

For the discounts they give, totally not worth it.... unless you just want to drive a 5 series.... or don't know about this forum... nonetheless, they will still sell them all.......

Maybe at $140k, it would be worth considering....

Re: Airshow 2008 520i

Even if they sell cheaper, but at 156hp it will be much under power ! I think better to take the 523i with more options at just slightly higher price. You can also sell higher price than the 520i in the future.

I actually went to view and testdrive the Airshow 520iA with my SE friend this afternoon. The initial acceleration from standstill is abit sluggish, but once the car gets moving the drive feels quite okay at speed.

De-Spec for the Airshow 520iA (4 cylinder / 156 bhp):

Grey Gloss Trim
Single Zone Aircon
No Electric Folding Mirrors
No Anti-Dazzle Rear View Mirror
No Cruise Control
No Auto Rear Sunblind
16" Non-Runflat Tires and Rims

... but as a consolation, it still comes with the Xenons. :ehhh:

I'm just waiting for PML to eventually revise their pricing lower 'cos at its current promo nett of $160,000, its overpriced for such low equipment spec. The full spec 523iA (6 cylinder / 190 bhp) currently going at promo nett $171,800 looks to be a much better deal in comparison.

It'll probably take a pricing level of around $150k for me to even consider such a de-spec'ed/small engine version. :)

Seems your SE missed out a few more details.

For what it's worth, my friend told me the 320i airshow car is priced at $127k NETT and only 3 non metallic colors (red blue and black). Don't what are the things like xenon etc which chances are will not be included too. Totally not worth imho.

Re: Airshow 2008 520i

If the IL4 on the 3er is "perceived" to be "under-powered," imagine the IL4 on a 5er...... I am surprised that there are still 4-cylinder 5er on the e60......

Re: Airshow 2008 520i

i was surprised that PML doesn't bring the 520 in... regardless, it would still sell and the 523 would not be the base model anymore...

Re: Airshow 2008 520i

Thanks all for the info.

Just met up with my brother-in-law today and he's decided it's not worth it afterall.
The value is not really proportionate to the price savings.

1) 2.0L engine with 1K saving on Road Tax/annum - thus economical, however
2) The demand for it may be weak compared to it's bigger-engined siblings at very close prices.
