Re: Anonymous: Message to the government

amidst all these clapping, cheering, booing at the government...I think everyone lost the big picture...this group can actually "invade" us just because they "feel" something is unjust.

We are actually cheering for the downfall of our own country. Well done!

The sentiment here is to 'topple' the men in white. Most never think what is the after effect. What do black hat hackers know about politics, they only want attention.

Re: Anonymous: Message to the government

In the developed world like the US, a threat like this will be seen an act of terrorism. Citizens, as vocal as they can be against the government, will still stand united against and condemned the act.

Here, people cheer for it.

First world, indeed.

Re: Anonymous: Message to the government

Just to be clear, I sympatize with some of their causes, but I don't agree with their methods. I don't support cyber terrorism, hacking etc. in fact I oppose it on a daily basis.

In the forums/blogs I read regarding this hacking incident, almost all the comments were of hatred towards the PAP and government but one chant came up many times along the lines of ..."Hack and destroy the COE system and ERP and our credit card debts!"

Yah...smarty pants. I also want.

But nobody ever thought what would happen if The Messiah felt that he dislikes Singaporeans or our whining ways (cos he/they perform the function of Judge and Jury on ANYTHING they want..) and proceeded to hack and delete our savings, CPF monies and devalues all our shares, investments and properties... but of cos it will never happen becos of hammer time

Re: Anonymous: Message to the government

Lai liao ?

A HACKER who claims to be part of the Anonymous network posted a message on The Straits Times blog website on Friday morning, days after a video threatening to hit out at the Government was posted on YouTube.

The hacker said the attack was prompted by a "misleading" report the paper published on its website, and demanded an apology or the resignation of the journalist who wrote it, threatening further attacks otherwise.

A spokesman for Singapore Press Holdings, which publishes the ST and its websites, said the paper stands by its reports and reporters.

The affected blog site has been taken down for now, SPH added. "We have filed a police report on the incident, and the police is investigating the matter."

Government agencies were put on alert after the video posted on Youtube on Tuesday threatened to unleash a "war" on government websites unless it reconsidered regulations requiring the registration of news sites, which were introduced in June.

Re: Anonymous: Message to the government

If John McClane were to fight these hackers in Singapore, will he be seen as a por-lum-par villain rather than a hero in Die Hard 4?

I don't think hammer time or even Anonymous can do a better job at depleting our savings, CPF monies etc than the intricately confusing, complicated and incomprehensible dunno what Minimm Sum Scheme that is already in place at the moment.... I reckon I have to live till 120 years old before I'll ever see my money given back to me! :lol2:

But jokes aside, it is disturbing to think this vigilantism can be cheered on by the common folk on the street. Disturbing that the people feel so much hatred towards the government, and more disturbing to know that they think a bunch of hackers can actually bring salvation to them....

I do sympathize with the cause (unfair/biased censorship, one-sided and skewed reporting by the mainstream media) but I have my doubts about the way they are going about to accomplish it. Two wrongs don't make a right.
