Hey bro, a 458 gets u 2 911!!! U don't "rather" a 458 :D

I've driven both lately and the PDK is a complete winner. The sound on the 991 is great because it is a sound symposer but I believe that the BMWs are doing that as well because of EU regulations.

Re: Anyone driven the new Porsche 991 C2S

should change to Innotech like one of the bros here did...sound absolutely awesome...

Re: Anyone driven the new Porsche 991 C2S

I personally feel that the new 911 is getting too soft. I have owned both the 997.2 pdk and the latest M3 with akra installed. I have also test-driven the 991. I kinda agree with clar that the 991 is not significantly better than the m3. To me, it has lost it's appeal, sound and heritage as a driver's car; give me a manual 993 anyday! It feels too much like the panamera to be honest- a GT rather than a true blue sports car. On normal roads, the M3 is significantly faster than the 997, due to the latter's problem's with front-axle hop at high speeds or if the road is even slightly uneven. I'm sure on a proper track, the 911 would be faster. However, I don't feel that the looks, drive or performance of the 991 is worthy of a $100k plus deficit over the M3. Further, Stuttgart Auto is very strict about mods to the car- your 5-yr warranty will be voided, which throws out any plans you have of putting in innotech or whatever other mods. IMHO, the only worthy Porsche products at the moment are the GT3, GT3RS, GT2, turbo, which have kept their original dry sump engines, and are still an absolute joy to drive. I am looking forward to the GT3 which is supposed to be launched next year. Hopefully, Porsche will maintain it's feel and racing heritage with the new GT3 :)

Further, although the pdk system on the 991 is better than the 997.2, the transmission is still slightly behind that on the M3 to be honest. They have added in the blips on downshifts in sport plus mode, but M has been doing it all along since 2 plus yrs ago, and it's only getting better. Just my personal feedback.

I agree the 458 gets you 2 911s, but the 458 is truly worth the difference. The car is absolutely brilliant and there is nothing on the road that drives like it. I am not a huge fan of its looks (not that it's bad looking, but nothing spectacular and looks odd from certain angles), but I was totally blown away during test drive. Absolutely astounding car! Just can't bear to spend over a mil on a car, plus my fiance won't let me. LOL!

Glad someone shares my views on the PDK. It never felt as good as the DCT during my test drive. I can never quite understood those who claimed the PDK is a "blast" or stuff like that. Perhaps, they have not experienced a DCT before?

Hey bro, i heard they are putting PDK on the next GT3! That might not go down very well for you purists. Electric steering is also the order of the day for the next GT3/RS. I only wish they don't slap a huge spoiler on that car...

I am not a big fan of the 458's looks as well. It kinda reminds me of a gecko. However, i will forgive them for that minor transgression if not for the fact that i can't afford it :p A V8 Ferrari has always been my ultimate dream car. One day...

Second this. Have tried the 991 C2S and don't feel any difference between it and the M3. In fact the M3 may be even slightly (just that tiny fraction) better in my opinion.

I have driven the PDK version of the Porsche 991 C2S and the gearbox is so-so in my opinion.
The PDK doesnt have an accurate shift point like the one on the M3. Whenever you shift, there is a very slight delay before it engages upshift or downshift. I don't like this because when you are flat on, you will use every last part of the RPM range and the last thing you'd want is to hit the RPM limiter which engages the fuel cut, and it's very annoying.

The DCT on the M3 is alot more natural in terms of upshift and downshift. Infact, it does it very well even ahead of most other double clutch gearboxes I have tried. With the newer software, its alot better too. But mainly better in the automatic programme.

My vote still goes to the DCT hands down.

Actually, the main issue putting me off buying a GT3 is that the previous cars take a severe hit on re-sale mainly due to the manual box and heavy clutch- not many people are such car fanatics that they are willing to live with it. So i'm actually glad that the new GT3 is coming with a pdk system, hopefully they are able to create something close to the one on the 458, which make the car a monster!

Which Aston do u have? I have always liked the Vantage look and size :) I only wish it's more updated technology wise.

Nice, i like!!! Must be quite hard to sell with a manual rite? Cars of this league tend to be harder to sell if it comes with a manual.

Ya man. Same as previous GT3s- You take a massive hit on resale. Most Porsche and especially Aston buyers want a GT rather than a out and out sports car. No more manuals! LOL!
