Any fellow M3 owners here test driven the new C2S? If so, please share your thoughts on the car compared to the M3. I am only interested on the thoughts on C2S, so no GT3 please.

I usually don't test drive unless i am fairly certain i am buying. Don't wanna waste their time.

Re: Anyone driven the new Porsche 991 C2S

the flat six sound is very different from the V8 more high pitch, super responsive and the pdk gearbox is sex :D u don't need to even use ther pedal shift :p control the gear shift with your throttle.

Re: Anyone driven the new Porsche 991 C2S

if u ask me, no need test drive.

c2s > m3

c2s > m3

Not every aspect lar. Sound and looks already inferior to M3. I know sound and looks are subjective, but the only Porsche that sounds better than the S65 is the Carrera GT. From online videos, the latest 3.8 flat six sounds a whole lot better than the 911s of old, which sounded like a WRX with a broken exhaust. Looks-wise, the latest 991 is at least acceptable. Some US guys even remarked that the latest PDK is only as good as the M-DCT. Handling, feel, and speed are 991 territory though.

Apart from that, i am also curious as to how much better it is...

u should really go test it and compare.

GT3 sounds tones better than M3, no need CGT which is ultimate.

Re: Anyone driven the new Porsche 991 C2S

On street road, diff to tell CS2 better than M3 I think. On track, Porsche better.

Re: Anyone driven the new Porsche 991 C2S

want to group test drive later?

Re: Anyone driven the new Porsche 991 C2S

If I am looking to buy a sports coupe and do not need 4 sports seats, then definitely 991 C2S for me. At least it looks like a sports car unlike a M3 coupe which can be mistaken by the less discerning as a regular 3 series coupe. But if you want a sleeper look, then you will skip the Porsche.

But the 991 is at least $100k more than a V8 M3. So it begs the question is it worth the money? And then you will ask why not spend less for a Cayman S with PDK and sports exhaust? The Cayman S in stock form may look a bit odd from side view but slap on Techart kit and it is a looker.

In terms of interior, the new 991 is gorgeous. At least it looks expensive and the centre console is fully utilised unlike say the M3 where there is plenty of unused areas. I would have loved to have crowded buttons even if I don't use them.

I have yet to test drive one but the general feedback is that its steering feel not as good as the 997. But the pluses from the rest of the car will still attract buyers.

I only have a Boxster S but it already feels more nimble then the M. I like the M for the engine note and M exhaust combo. It reminds me I am driving a V8. But my Boxster S also comes with sports exhaust from the GT3. It is a different sound but it just opens up at higher rpm to sound heaven. Very different from M3 M exhaust which is not loud at higher RPM.

PM me your number. I am moving to near your place in Sep. We can kopi and talk cars hehe.

With options (which Porsche is fond of excluding), the difference will hit beyond 100k.

PM sent :) U are right, the big question is whether it's WORTH THE $ to do the change. I did consider the upcoming Cayman S, but decided to just narrow my choices to cars that i can actually buy. Boxster is not an option as i don't like open top.

The main reason to consider a change is mainly due to having gotten the M5. The M5 now takes on the duty of people lugging with 4 doors and that spacious interior. That means i no longer need an all-rounded car. The M3 is the best all-rounded sports car in the world. When damn bean counters in M decided not to build a Z4M, I am left to look else where for a 2 seater sports car. I am likely to trade in my M5 for the next M3 sedan as I don't really need all that size. All my kids are still tiny at the moment.

I will prob go do a test drive one of these days...

Re: Anyone driven the new Porsche 991 C2S

chris harris says the 991 is nice.... near perfection.

but somehow I did not get the same vibe and enthusiasm and rave reviews when he gave the review for the 997 GT3 RS 4.0.

Re: Anyone driven the new Porsche 991 C2S

had the chance to try the 991 c2s. i wasn't expecting to like it much, having driven a cayman s and gt3 prior and thinking that a c2s was always a bit too "soft".

but it blew me away, loved it. the pdk was a beaut, throttle response was sharp, steering was supposedly bad (according to reviews) but i thought it was sensational. a bit expensive in my opinion however I'm sure Porsche will shift plenty of these.

versus M3 => forgive me but I prefer a config of a more outright sports car + 1 family car versus a blended solution in general. But if could only buy one, it's gotta be the M3.
