BMW 325i vs 523i

Re: BMW 325i vs 523i

Frankly, if you got budget you should go for 335i lah, no regret! another 30k more than 325i, next time when you sell also fetch higher value. If you are not willing to spend more than 200k, may be settle for 325i. I would say very much depend on how much you want to spend. There is no end!

Re: BMW 325i vs 523i

Yah... no end bro if keep going up... but 30k more... and above 200k... really way way over my budget.

Re: BMW 325i vs 523i

I tell you, go and try the 335i, you will find money to buy if you really like fun driving.

Re: BMW 325i vs 523i

I love fun driving... especially weaving thru traffic in JB on my weekly trips eating a few Waja's and Wira's and challenging some Perdana's and turbocharged Kancil's.

But no matter how much I luuuuurrrrvve a 335i.... sadly.. I have to admit cannot afford.

Wonder how much different the horses will feel.....

323i 2497 cc 177 $158,800
325i 2497 cc 218 $178,800

Only 20k diff ah.... if 323i (highline) diff reduced to 10k.

Yup, 10K for 40horses more is definitely worth it... trust me very significant can feel one (the pull from 80km onwards is brutal:evil: ).. . somemore pay same road tax... and 325 has all the bells such as the DISA actuated manifold and exhaust runners... :yummie:

Re: BMW 325i vs 523i

Id get the 5 series, why?

I read in one post a lady said "you know you have a successful career if you drive a 5 series"

*waits for flaming*

Not true Phil. I'll go for the 325. Good things come in small packages and in this case, a powerful one.

Just to add, age shouldn't really affect your decision unless you have got a family or plan to have one in the near future. *staring at Terry

Re: BMW 325i vs 523i

Im old, i prefer comfort, I'll take the 5 anyday. Plus to me they look 5,000 times better. Look at Toto's, Bobby's, Terry's and Wilmans 5's.

Re: BMW 325i vs 523i

Had the same predicament. Tried the 520 and found it sorely lacking. Then the 523 and 525 (and the 325). The 325 felt more poised than the 525 (being longer and heavier).

In the end - went for an 8-month old used 330i instead. Havent regretted it. Way way way better pull than the 325. Feels comfortably relaxed even at 240. Shame they have stopped importing it. Try talking to PML for a used 330 - or even a used 325. Even though their prices may be higher, the service standards etc. justify it. E.g. on my 330 - I had a small chip on the windscreen when i picked it up. I didnt even notice it, the salesgirl did - changed the windscreen before I got it.

Plus if the car has less than 2 years warranty remaining, they top up another year. Worth checking it out IMO - even for the 325, you save quite some $$$. Have already seen a lot of 325s listed. Especially if you can get an ex demo one.

Re: BMW 325i vs 523i

way to go. Buying a 2nd hand BMW is the best thing, coz the 1st guy got hit so bad.

Me the 523iA unless top up for the 325iC or 325i Cab.

The improved 523iA with 190bhp is still much popular than the E series in term of price/power therefore assuming better re-sale value in it's Class.

The majority Singapore car-buyers' 523iA choice cannot be wrong.

Sorry for my ignorance, may i know what is 325i Cab? Beside i heard that there is V6 for 325, is it true?

By the way, waht is the diff of coupe and sedan, beside the outlook? Performance wise looks no diff wor....

15% more is a lot when the number is big big ah! By the way, 20K is comparing against 323i.... I think 320i now about 125k can get... 325i is 178k so that's 50k diff for the list of extras you quoted.

It's always a little more for better car yah.... hahaha... No lar.. I got limit... 180K car is about what I can probably afford. Anything higher, is stretching it liao. Have to drive within or below my means.

If suay suay lose job, every month still have to pay house, eat, utilities, income tax, etc.

Hmm, you can add a chip to the 323i to boost the current 177horses to 208 horses right? Its cost around 1.5K for the chip? You save almost 20K man....

Re: BMW 325i vs 523i

mrericlee, just buy something you love driving it daily. wish you'll get your ideal BMW soon. cheers.

Just my view, every price gap is another model another range. sometime is within the same brand, some are better with other car brand.
once you set your budget, just look up for the best car you can get within the budget, don't just look at BMW.
I belive 180K budgeting should get you very nice ride.

325i Cab is convertible... very swee... when roof come up and down... like transformer! Coupe is 2 door.... Sedan is 4 door.... looks very different. Coupe price much higher for same level of equipment... Lifestyle car.... so PML take out parang.

Performance... pretty much same if same engine.

If so easy, 325 nobody buy liao.... Asean/Europe 323 is missing quite abit of hardware (disa manifold, exhaust runners) apart from the ECU.

The "strongest" 323 is the canadian one... boosting 200horses, but that one has the disa manifold, and ECU... lack the runners though...

Yup, all the same motor N52B25... (coupe actually debuted with the DI version, 218hp 270Nm, but did not reach our shore leh :( )

and the coupe/convertible made in germany...

time chaser.....agree with u.......

no need to look liao.....330i is the way to go......... used one better.....for yr budget ...............

Re: BMW 325i vs 523i

Yes, time chaser and shameless...way to go

We picked up a used 330i and its astonishing. Feels better on the street than on the track when I last tried it during driver training at Pasir Gudang.

Hence my bet would be on the 325i rather than 523i. BMs are noted for its handling prowess and responsive engines(need I say more) than anything else.

But then again, the bum will one day rule and the comforts of a 5 is superior to the 3.
