Re: BMWSG Sepang Track Day 30 July 2011 registration

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Appreciate it. In anticipation of any disputes I have done up a log of the smses and whatsapps, a screenshot of the interbank transfers and correlated them to the forum timing entries. In case. There were still people who didnt put in the cents=position so it took a bit of sleuthing to get them right. Thus, sorry for such a late round-up post last night.

Most of the trackkies who have fed back here are in favour of natural attrition until the date. Are there any others who are not in favour of this idea?

For those who have not forwarded me their contact numbers, please do so.

For newbies, I will ensure that everyone will start the first stint with an orientator. If you have a qualified friend, that's good. But if you do not have, do not worry I will find someone to take you out for your first stint. I will call you guys up and start this buddy system coordination closer to the date. Currently we have a rough count of about 10 newbies. That's about 20-25% of the list.

I will need a slow-to-medium-speed convoy leader. Any volunteers? As of this moment I do not see anyone in need of one. Perhaps it is too early to decide. If you have your own gang of friends going up together that's the best. For those who do not have the chance to tag along any existing convoys, I will create one for you and guide you up to Sepang. Arrangements will be closer to the date. But you have to first put your name down on the convoy list so that I can prepare accordingly based on demand.

We will also potentially need more time to do our registration and safety brief. Please everyone pls try to aim to arrive latest at 815am. I will place much more emphasis on safety briefing this time, because I notice we have a significant proportion of trackkies who do not regularly track with us, and thus may be not familiar with the BMWSG guidelines on major things like overtaking, cool down laps, etc. But I need everyone to play their part to be early enough for me to give a substantial safety briefing instead of a rushed one.

Thanks guys.

it wasn't too long ago folks were asking questions about low turnouts

Believe one of the main factors was moving the signup threads from the private members' folder to this public track folder.

Re: BMWSG Sepang Track Day 30 July 2011 registration

EVERYONE PLS BLEED YOUR BRAKES BEFORE THE TRACK DAY AND BE VERY AWARE OF YOUR CARS BRAKES GOING MUSHY....Brake fade into the rear or side of another car is not my idea of a fun track day and the person on the receiving end can do very little to avoid the situation.

Re: BMWSG Sepang Track Day 30 July 2011 registration

Hahha you're already nearly a crew cut mate. As mentioned to both Simons and everyone on the program and even not, what makes any driver faster is truly understanding concepts (not rule memorization) and then applying them with focus whenever out on track.. literally every single minute.

Completely forget about magic anything - magic cars, tires, drivers, rules, setups. It's all useless mysticism. Ballparks exist for all of them, but far more important is working out the most efficient processes for refining line, inputs setup, etc. based on available resources.

The more we get caught up in magic, the less focus and time we have for the stuff that'll actually make us better. Put all faith and focus in quantified test processes for line, inputs, setup, practice it all with focus, and in less time than you think, you will be independent, fast.

It's so tempting to believe in magic bullets, how just one special this or that can solve everything, super shortcut all time and focus intensive processes, but it just don't exist. Anecdotes, one sided stories, hype, plain lies.. they just never ever work. Some who progress though what's real, may even promote or sell the idea of magic, but that's only because they sell out and are willing to compromise everyone else in order to further self only.

Sorry for OT, will start some other thread another time...

I heard if you get one off just before the green flag you will be able to get better timings. Some athletes swear by it.

Re: BMWSG Sepang Track Day 30 July 2011 registration

Then we should all do it. We should all turn up wearing safety briefs, because as you know, safety briefs are absolutely of paramount importance for track days.

Re: BMWSG Sepang Track Day 30 July 2011 registration

Crew cut is not a myth, it's weight savings from high up and will lower the centre of gravity. It might also enable you to squeeze your head into a smaller helmet which helps save even more weight! Potentially worth up to 3 seconds a lap. This is the most logical explanation as to why Alonso was 2nd best to Hamilton when they were both driving for McLaren in 2007.
