Re: Changes to COE: Government includes car engine power to categorisation

Next step is a taxi-meter-like device to be installed in your ride to tax mileage......

This year's card is "game changer".

Never had time to recover from the previous changes and new changes come in liao.

Re: Changes to COE: Government includes car engine power to categorisation

Looks like I am keeping my lao pok kar till 2016 and hopefully
PM will feel sorry about this honest mistake and remove COE for 1 month during GE. Alright.....now that's the plan.

I reckon tag coe to engine power say.... 200bhp or 180bhp... at least more sense...

130bhp?? seriously???

Re: Changes to COE: Government includes car engine power to categorisation

And according to Sebastian Shaw in X-men.
"If you are not with us, by definition- you are against us."

So, bo bian la, we are the result of our own doing.
Which "@$&#er" raised this up during the "CONVERSATION"!
This fellow must be not a BMW owner....!

Not every car can be 1.4cc then turbo up to 150/160 bhp.
Some even twin turbo.... Now? Turbo become "tehr-bu" (sow).

Maybe in a way yes with regards to the efficiency levels of engines being pushed onto the markets today, 130bhp really makes no sense but still it is a step forward in terms of changes.

Re: Changes to COE: Government includes car engine power to categorisation

The gahmen is trying to tell people... if you're gonna buy a 1er, forget the 118 - just get a M135.

Re: Changes to COE: Government includes car engine power to categorisation

Sorry, but how does tagging COE to higher engine power solve car congestion problems?

That's why we are not MCFers.

Re: Changes to COE: Government includes car engine power to categorisation

I think it causes more congestion problem.
More affordability, more cars on the road, more congestion. But also mean, more ERP lah!!

Re: Changes to COE: Government includes car engine power to categorisation

On a separate note, gahmen is slow. Years ago, groomers and tinting companies already used engine cc to quote their services. Grooming an e85 Z4 3.0 is more expensive than a e46 318i ok.

Re: Changes to COE: Government includes car engine power to categorisation

the tweak of coe system is not to solve congestion
it is to make allocation "fairer" wor - so to speak

CAT A - bread and butter ... white bread + butter (not imported type ... ntuc home brand type)

CAT B - all other car is considered premium

Re: Changes to COE: Government includes car engine power to categorisation

no matter how affordable it is ... the congestion is the same
congestion is due to no of cars ... which is controlled by coe
1000 coe = 1000 new car = be it $10k or $100k ... congestion is the same

affordability is only to filter out ... who is the 1000 people for the 1000 coe
nothing to do with car increase or decrease

If you look at the last COE prices, CAT A $77,304, CAT B $77,100.

ONE.MOTORING - COE Details

Simi premium?

It looks to me they are forcing CAT B higher. But that does not necessarily solve any problem.
