Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

i often suspect that they do take it out longer than required for "test drives". but like pengful said, difficult to prove. questioning the distance travelled is also not gonna help knowing pml they come come out with all kinds of excuses.

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

Just be more alert. Before I hand my car over, I'll note down my mileage. Then when the CSA prints out the job sheet, your mileage will be stated too. Just compare it to the mileage when u collect your car and then start making noise! :)

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

its not only that. iam more concern about the way the drive the car as well. have seen how rough they r with cars even driving past humps. cant help but feel paranoid bout the car rattling and stuff with them driving over surface irregularities like this.

I think we cannot stop technicians taking our cars out for a spin since they have to test drive to determine if a problem is fixed. It should be fine as long as there are no unwarranted damages, which of course, they will have to make good.

It should also be perfectly fine if they decide to stop and buy food or 4D during the test drive. I don't see anything wrong with that.

You are truly very understanding, I think I'd be pretty mad if I caught a svc tech driving my car out for lunch! I dont even eat food/bring food into the cabin, def wouldn't want them to be doing that w/o seeking prior permission. Of course I'd never give them permission either...

i think as Azrielsc said, there are some precautions you can take. For me, I am very honest with the CSA and point out any kerb rash etc that is existing. Then I make it clear to them that I will inspect my car at collection. Once I saw a CSA checking my car for scrapes on the side skirts and bumper! Damn thorough, I was v impressed with his pre-svcing inspection. I took a few tips from him too. If only he did inspections post svcing too. But he never. I had to collect it on my own from the grooming bay :errmm:

Not meaning to worry you even more, but my dad once brought his car in for a check cos he sensed the car was lurching when braking. So a tech took the car for a spin. My dad told me he was horrified at the way he drove the car (my dad actually sat in the passenger seat). Too Fast and Furious for his liking. Then he warned me never to bring new cars in for oil change till the engine is broken in, otherwise the PML tech will break it in for me! This wasn't the CSA, apparently the CSA was much more "reasonable" in his subsequent test drive with my dad.

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

i have always been confused with the abreviations used on service ppl. What is CSA or SA? is he the bloke that is all nicely dressed up and noting down your issues or the other bloke who is in grey overalls taking your car for a test drive?

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

I recently brought my car for some repairs (warranty issues) at PML. I left my car there for about 3 days. I noted that the mileage was about 50 km more when I collected the car. Anyway, was too tired to make any noise.

I suppose there will be positive or negative experiences with PML. For the margin PML/BMW made, I would like to believe that the service should be top-notch. Sometimes, the margins on some models (particularly lifestyle models) are more than the price of the car in more tax-friendly countries.

I love BMW cars. Experience with CSA and SE have been great till date. Cant say the same for PML (may be relative to my expectation). My 2 cents.

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

I have recently sent my car to the PML Alexandar service centre, been there about 3 times. During my last visit, I notice that the reception was more attentive. The CSA was bad though - I asked him to check the transmission but he was defensive, giving annoying excuses and totally unhelpful. 3 days after I collected my car, a service technician called me to ask if the fix works.
I was impressed. Has this got to do with the rumour that BMW is looking for another distributor for the M cars ? I know Ferrari distributionship recently changed hands.

I for one....regret getting it from PML. Collected car one week ago....

1) IU unit not working and PML ask to going to LTA for rectification work.

2) Alpine hi-fi upgrade.....need to leave the car in PML for 2 days to install the stereo set.

Bad impression on PML. My next ride ......no more 3 letters car for me.....will go for 4 letters car instead ......AUDI.

It all voice down to luck! And i must say so far I had been very fortunate. When I got my car from PML I did not notice the leather of the rear seat arm rest was slightly torn. I when back about 2mth later after my itchy hand friend open that arm rest and told me that it is torn, they change it for me with no further question asked.

Than have some problem with my fog lamp after 1 year and they also replace it for me, so I do not have much issues with their service. I will continue to buy from authorise dealer because I have some friends that have very bad experience with PI, especially on big item claims....

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

I hopped over to the Bimmer family, after the terrible experience I received from the OTHER marque (which happens to be immediate neighbours with PML @ Alexandra) - and already, regretted buying my 7.

Nothing wrong with the Sales Executive, but when it came to getting a knocking noise fixed from the B pillar, it took them 2 tries (mind you, the car was less than a month old at that time!) - the first time, the car was in the workshop for 2 to 3 days, and we didn't have a courtesy car, and when we took delivery, the noise was still there!

The second time, I really raised heaven & hell, and thankfully, I happened to have a friend with an inside line to BMW Asia. Oooh, the second time, things were different. My 7 was picked up from home, a courtesy car was provided, and VOILA, the problem was FIXED!

It saddens me to think that I had to pull strings to get my problem noticed - if I didn't know a friend who knew someone else, God knows, I could still be suffering from that stupid nuisance of a noise.

I'm now looking hard at either the M3 or hopping back to the Merc family, specifically the E63 (when it comes out) - but both will be from PIs (having been bitten so badly by both authorised dealers). Unless the new dealership for the M brand is confirmed, and the prices are not cutthroat daylight robbery :p

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

Besides recording the milage, I suggest remember your last radio setting. Recently collected my car and found my radio setting was changed to a Mandarin station and I never never listen to Mandarin station before and no one drive my car. When I question Mr Yxxx, he told me we have to check every stations is working part of SOP. :screwedu: What a bull shit.... Wake up... And I question him why they reset the milage to zero, his answer was the cleaner must have accidently press it. Again full of excuses. I think BMW Asia is kept in the dark for too long. Maybe BMW Asia is not aware all these feedback.

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

Hi all.
Need some recommendations on which centre to go to or are there any friendly Service Advisors to intro? Can PM if not convenient to post.
Help is greatly appreciated as I'm sending my car in for the very first time and may have a few questions to ask.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

I just collected my baby from PML a week ago & realised that there's water droplets & vapour in the headlights whenever i wash my car & some yellow stain on the top, my car is alpine white.
Called the sales person & she told me to go down PML.

I'm wondering for such issues, do you think PML will retify my problem for me? What if they can't remove the yellow stain for me, can i insist them to respray my car?? The yellow stain is pretty obvious.

Pls advice, fellow pals..

u have every right to demand that the stain be rectified, given that u have informed ur sales person. though i doubt its anything serious that cannot fix.

happened to my stereo. volume was at ultra loud levels. next time u send in for servicing, tell the CSA to tell his freakin mechanics to stop fcuking around with the car whilst repairing it!

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

Pml Has The Worse Mechanics. They Take Every Car Out And Thrash The Shit Out Of The Car. I Know someone Who Has Had his Car Into Accidents Because Of This And Pml Had To Give him A New Car In Confidence To Prevent The News From Leaking Out. Pretty Pathetic If You Ask Me. And The People There Arent Mechanics, Just Time Wasters. They take the longest time for the simplest of jobs and even that, they can screw it up. The only good thing about PML is a good ol cup of coffee which is free and thats probably why you pay so much more. Ya Kun coffee tastes better. Irrelevant. For this marque, stick to PI. There are many established shops outside who are much more competent than PML who addresses the problem in the right direction.

Why they bother doing that

If Anyone from PML reading this, please get ur act together...

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

when i sent in my ride to fix the gps hissing sound, my stations were gone too. they explained to me that they have to reset the software resulting all my preset stations were removed. and the best thing is it got all other stations set. (depend on what channels the mechanics like huh)
