Driver crusing 70 - 80km/h at expressway 1st lane is a nuisance

On this one, have to add its beyond hogging on lane 1. even in a traffic jam, everyone has to make way and change lane to accommodate the ambulance, and not the mentality that "everywhere is jammed so I will stick to my lane"

Those who have driven in Europe, US would know what I mean. Everyone would literally scramble to make a clear lane for an ambulance

in US everyone clears the way and makes a complete stop.

was in a friend's vehicle approaching a cross junction, ambulance on 11'oclock about 70 metres away...friend slowed to almost a crawl.....thinking more than enough time for ambulance to cross...

as ambulance passed, paramedic pointed with an irate look that it should be a complete stop :|

That's good to know. Not giving way to ambulance really irks me
Yups Yups irk me too.

I remember an incident where there was an ambulance on lane-1 at some distance behind, I was on lane-2. I slowed down to allow e lane-1 vehicle next to me to switch lane... Guess what he did? Nothing and no effect to not even try to switch lane when there gap in front of me extended to nearly 5 car lengths (visual gauge)! Fortunately vehicles behind me never horned. When e ambulance finally approaches to about 1 car length behind him, he just speed up a little and continued driving on lane-1. The ambulance decided to signal and switch to lane-2 in front of me and switch back to lane-1 after overtaking e vehicle on lane-1.... What a prick e driver was.

Of course I took e opportunity to follow e ambulance and switch to lane-1 and drove behind e ambulance, not tailgating for sure :D

1. If I can't cope with the traffic speed which the front vehicle is far far away, so even at 100km/hr.. I will still switch to 2nd lane to let the lorry to pass

2. If I'm coping with the traffic speed, so even if the lorry tail gate me, I can choose not to get way. So even if the traffic flow is slow, is not my fault.. blame some road hogger who is infront of the pack

the 1st type of drivers who dun give way to others who r driving faster r the ones usully beaten up by our friends up north......
dun say 100km/h, even 200km/h, i also gave way whilst travelling up north, there was once i was tailgated by a 7 series in my sti whilst travelling at my top speed (around 255km/h), LL also have to keep left..... then he was gone in a flash, cannot even see tail lights..... that's the main reason for selling the sti which was less than a year old for a bmw.....

Re: Driver crusing 70 - 80km/h at expressway 1st lane is a nuisance

The next category of irritating drivers besides road hoggers on extreme right lane going at speed limit, are those who are speeding and 'absent mindedly forgotten' to turn on their headlights past 7pm or in inclement weather.....

Fml......

Could also be someone with double vision or crossed-eye who takes a while to see 2 lanes as 2 lanes or see 2 lanes as 1 lane respectively :errmm:

Irritating no doubt but pity them lah :lol2: :lol2:

Re: Driver crusing 70 - 80km/h at expressway 1st lane is a nuisance

signalling also got problems... dun signal also got problems....

when signaling, the car behinds speeds up to try and close the gap in front, preventing you from making a successful lane change maneuver.

However....what does one do if we have already managed to change lanes (with signalling), the car behind who sped up attempting to prevent your successful lane change maneuver is unsuccessful in blocking you.... then proceeds to display his displeasure by horning and flashing headlights....

1) speed up and change to another lane?
2) wind down window regardless of weather and show international 'bird' sign?
3) wind down window and wave a thank you?

Re: Driver crusing 70 - 80km/h at expressway 1st lane is a nuisance

the best way is to wave thank you with your hand out of the window......very effective, even taxi also give way....:) but can only when you try to shift right......to shift left, can't because hand to short.

Re: Driver crusing 70 - 80km/h at expressway 1st lane is a nuisance

Actually, what I also find very irritating are the heavy vehicles, lorries, pickups etc cruising on lane 2. They cruise on 60kmh in bliss, and very often, you'll end up with the heavy vehicles on 2 lanes of the expressway and leaving only the 1st lane left for cars. Then you kena the uncle drivers who overtakes the lorry by driving at 70kmh in 1st lane, and the whole expressway will slowdown..... I seriously hope to see more enforcement against these heavy vehicles. I think they are speeding and road hogging at the same time!!
