Re: E90 - Central Locking Failed - Locked from inside.....

normally it is the fuse which is blown. keep a few spare fuses and learn how to replace it.

I kenna 3 times also so i dun bother to call bmw. I go BVO and they sort it out for me on the spot.

replaced the actuator as well.

well, i am waiting for the 4th time....haha....

Re: E90 - Central Locking Failed - Locked from inside.....

located the fuse #57 (15amp) was blown but swapping it with a spare didn't help so the actuator must also be faulty. whereabouts is this actuator located anyway?

Re: E90 - Central Locking Failed - Locked from inside.....

U haven't driven a E90 until U have a failed door actuator.

I have known of someone who have 6 failure in his 4 years of ownership.

The problem is apparently caused by water, shorting the actuator, which explains why it happens after a downpour or after a car wash.

The remedy is a new actuator and a bigger amperage fuse.

I had this problem once in my 20 month ownership of my E90 and was keeping my finger crossed during my wife's pregnancy. Well the good thing (at least) was that it happened after her delivery, on a evening after a heavy downpour. The Road Side Assiatance came and changed the fuse in less than 5 mins and everything was normal again. As a precaution, i send the car to PML and got all the actuators changed with a higher amperage fuse. In the next 6 months following the change, there were no recurrence of the problem

bro, you mean the fuse at #57 change from 15A to 20A?
will this affect the rest of the circuit?

my failed 3 times within 2 months

Re: E90 - Central Locking Failed - Locked from inside.....

just sent in today. 50k servicing takes 2 days :( anyway they said they have a new solution to the circuit problem now which will fix the problem for good....?

Hang in there dude ... I hope all will turn out ok for your ride man.

Re: E90 - Central Locking Failed - Locked from inside.....

pls keep us posted if pml got a permanent solution to the central locking failed.
i wish we can make an appointment to fix the fuses & actuators before they fail.

bro urs also kena?

Re: E90 - Central Locking Failed - Locked from inside.....

nope. i'm asking whether we can "demand" pml to change these "expected" fail parts before they fail. i don't want to experince this problem while parking outside. so unglamour and looks idiot.

i doubt it leh bro. for every part they change they will need to keep the faulty part for audit when the german guy from Bavaria comes down to check. so they woun't be able to substantiate why they changed a perfectly working spare part.

you are 101% right. no fault no replace. anyways 20A fuse are in and now awaiting for new actuators from germany to be installed.

Re: E90 - Central Locking Failed - Locked from inside.....

Mine fail the 3rd time just 2 weeks ago. Send in car on 28 Sept, they replaced new actuators for 2 rear doors. The 2 front door actuators are replace after the 2nd failure. Crossing fingers that those new actuators will solve the problem. I hate sending my car to PML and listening to their crap excuses... :(

Re: E90 - Central Locking Failed - Locked from inside.....

to be fair, it is not PML fault that the central locking failed. however, PML should put their act together to make sure problem is resolved immediately to minimize owner's inconvenience.

if some owner experienced 2x & 3x of central locking failed, i believe it is a design/product flaw which means even by changing to a new fuse/actuator it will fail eventually.

i'm worry when is my turn ... keeping fingers cross

like u said its not PML's fault. They have to comply with whatever BMW global deems as proper replacement or repair. Cant just do a make shift device or modify the lock to solve the problem, as it is not compliant with standards. should anything worst happen to the lock, the entire warranty provided by BMw to PML will be void. and we r talking about millions a year.

next time u go pml and have a part replace, ask if u could keep the spoilt part and u will know what i mean.
