Re: E90 - Central Locking Failed - Locked from inside.....

Got a 3.5 yr old e90 320i. Just had the drivers door locked. Need to manually open the door.

Wondering if PML will charge me since warranty is out?

Re: E90 - Central Locking Failed - Locked from inside.....

101% chop that PML will charge you. if this can be resolved outside (check out site sponsors), it would be better to do it outside.

Re: E90 - Central Locking Failed - Locked from inside.....

My rear right door has also this problem now. Went to PML yesterday and confirm it's not a fuse, now have to make appointment to send it in to change the actuator.

Sigh....

si beh zhuey tai chi man.

Re: E90 - Central Locking Failed - Locked from inside.....

The first few batches of E90s come with plastic gear drive wheels and these fracture under stress. Once they break, the motor tries to raise the locks and open the dead bolt mechanism against the jammed or stuck gear. The strain usually increses the current and the fuse goes. If the break is really bad, the link falls off the gear and kaput, you're stuck in the car.

BMW now makes a new part and the mechanism is now made of metal...

So, it's a permernant fix.

cheers

hi guys!

Just went and got my actuator fixed. According to BMW, its still under warranty. 48 months.

cheers!

Re: E90 - Central Locking Failed - Locked from inside.....

My door cannot open 3rd time in less than 3 years, having second thoughts on getting another BMW!

small problems...just sent it back to have the faulty components (new actuator & higher amp fuse) changed to the newer version n should be resolved for good.

the rate at which these things konk is simply alarming. simply not acceptable for a bimmer.

seems only to happen to certain owners. and if it does, its real often.

Re: E90 - Central Locking Failed - Locked from inside.....

Just saw this post.. I had the exact same problem about a month ago.
sent it straight to pml and they fixed it...

just wanted to highlight one other thing..
not sure how many people here still send there cars to pml for servicing and what not... but after this one lousy experience, i'm never going back there again unless i absolutely need to... Not sure if i can legally complain about it here.. so i better not say first! but to cut the long story short.. THEY ALMOST LOST MY CAR!!!!
how ridiculous it that man???

Just curious, how could PML lose your car when servicing and repairs were carried out within their compound? Unless they drove your car out.

Re: E90 - Central Locking Failed - Locked from inside.....

To cut the long story short and to gripe alittle.. They had my car and didn't inform me when it was done. As i was overseas, i got my dad to call/go down and see if it was done. He went since it was nearby and they released the car to him without him having any identification on him(i.e. no proof that he's my dad) and no letter of authorisation from me. Best part is, 5 days after he collects it and i'd been driving it - they call me to tell it's ready and I can collect it!!!! (i couldn't even reply cos i couldn't believe it) Unbelievable...basically, with that kind of security, anyone can go in and collect a car...scary..

You certain they did not ask for your mobile or ic number?

Re: E90 - Central Locking Failed - Locked from inside.....

Well the car was still registered under the previous owner's name.. and even if he could recite my mobile number or ic number.. that to me is not proof enough to release a car!

Re: E90 - Central Locking Failed - Locked from inside.....

I was told that the central locking mechanism is warranty for 4 years since so many reported failure.
