Labour Cost from Francis was approx. RM1500-1600. Is it reasonable?

RM1500-1600 and still gt to drive up north?? Yet need to get tour own parts?

I rather do it locally... at least anything wrong with the repair i can still have a pair of ass to spam...

It's RM 1600 or potentially close to SGD 1600 to do it at local WS.

To each his own whether to fix it in SG or MY. This WS in JB is only 15min drive from CIC, and has proven to be a reliable bmw shop.

Tried and tested by many bros here :)

Re: E90 engine oil leak experience

depends on individual whether savings less than $500 is worth the effort and time

if major repair like $3.5k-$4k which is close to rm$10k is a different story.

For savings at that range, it's either engine overhaul or tranny overhaul lol

I had a similar problem on my 2006 e90 - oil leak in engine bay. Mileage approx 100k. Sent to PML, and they quoted about $2k. Got a quote from one of the sponsor workshop here and was quoted $1k+ to replace "all related seals" to stop leak problem.

Not convinced, I brought car to my regular workshop in JB who specialises in BMW's. After diagnosis, mech replaced 2 o-rings at oil filter housing, and 4 more o-rings on the 2 VANOS solenoids. Viola! Oil leak no more and I'm poorer by less than RM270 - which includes my regular servicing. I brought my own oil, oil filter and air filter though....

And I must say that these guys are super pro! They even did a complete engine wash for me - meticulously cleaning EVERY item that has oil stain. Now my engine bay looks almost like new again! Hahaha!

If anyone here are feeling adventurous enough to head north to service your car, PM me for contact. Just to clarify, I'm NOT related to workshop in anyway. Just a happy customer after saving 90% of what the workshops here tried to charge me...

Hey bro, may I have the contact pls. Same problem as u. Thanks bro!

hi Bro, before you head north, how do you know what parts to buy unless you are very sure? Is there anyway to confirm the parts to bring North? Please PM me the contact too. thanks

Many thanks!

Just curious.... are you seeing engine oil leak on your F30? How old and what's the mileage of your ride?

I seem to think this problem plagues E90s with mileage over 100km.

Re: E90 engine oil leak experience

A friend used to drive his old E38 728 up to KL PML for service and repair - did it on his KL golfing or business trip. Make sense. Price for repair used to be like one-for-one: S$1 job for MR1 when S$1 was about MR2. If you have to go North, drive your car up and do all major jobs there.

Re: E90 engine oil leak experience

hi,
i just returned from the workshop recommended by my friend at the workshop (Best Maintainance workshop) located at Synergy KB at Kaki Bukit Unit 06-32, look for Ah Hua and he would give you free consultation and a computer diagnostic of your ride. To be honest, I have been to many workshops and never one workshop treated your ride like Ah Hua. Trust me, you will be satisfied with the personal attention and diagnostic by him. All parts are original BMW germany and very reasonable. I also had my under carriage washed thoroughly and it looked like new! This will be the workshop I will put my ride for maintenance henceforth.
