Thanks bro, yes it is under warranty.
I am enjoying my ride. Just didn't expect wear and tear to happen so fast though.....
Hope I didn't get a lemon car, lol....

I dont think its a lemon.. Sometimes QC r not 100% too.
As long as there is someone to fall back and take care of it.
All should be alrite..

Cheers...

I experience oil leakage at mileage of 13000,....
And the SA say is common, Hw true is it?

i also had some leakage at 20+k mileage. sent in my car the other day for battery warranty claim and PML changed some valvetronic parts and o-rings and seals as diagostic tool threw some warnings/errors. i asked the SA about the oil leak after the repairs and she mentioned might be related to the valvetronic stuff as well.

anyway here's the pic of where the leakage was. you can see the patch of oil there.

Thanks bro for sharing too.
Glad that we can make claims under warranty. they also top up my engine oil.
Mine was the com prompt engine oil low. I was surprise as I just change the oil like 2 mths ago.

Re: E90 engine oil leak experience

Hi bro,

I think for e90 engine it's quite common for oil, water leaks etc.

It's the high ambience temperature we have here, and the german gasket/rubber parts are not tropicalised well enough if any, hence all the leaks once you reach the mileage/age, whichever come first.

My engine also drinks 1L just 4k into my 8k oil change interval.

Am using BMW LL-01 5w30, gonna try BMW 0w40 next change to see if better (e.g. less oil burn, etc) as it's supposed to be a thicker oil suitable for older cars.

New car, i.e. less than 3 years can stick to 5w30 i think

i'm not sure what oil PML uses for servicing. it just says LUB9000 in the invoice. But i bought this 5W-40 oil for my latest service at PML. at $16 per litre it's half price of what PML charges for their oil.

Re: E90 engine oil leak experience

Just had my car done up at one of the recommended workshop in JB Permas Jaya.

Problem:
I experienced knocking sound undercarriage, my regular workshop diagnosed it was due to some coupling stuff and propshaft mounting. Workshop in siggapore quoted $150 for labor alone.

Solution:
i purchased the parts from stockist and proceeded to the workshop in JB. The workshop specialise in Bimmers. Below are things i did to my ride and the breakdown of the costs:

1 Engine Flush RM25
2 Ultra Utimax 10W60 5litres RM238
3 Oil Filter RM38
4 Coolant RM55
5 Labor charge for Change engine oil and reset RM50
6 Labor charge for change valve cover Gasket & long shaft mounting RM220

Car was send in around 10am and collected at 230pm. The staff send me to Tebrau Jusco which is about 15 mins drive away to shop.

Engine bay was washed for oil stains after the valve cover change.

Total costs RM626.

Comments
Overall good experience with the workshop. Might consider bringing in my own engine oil and filter for next service.

I had a similar problem on my 2006 e90 - oil leak in engine bay. Mileage approx 100k. Sent to PML, and they quoted about $2k. Got a quote from one of the sponsor workshop here and was quoted $1k+ to replace "all related seals" to stop leak problem.

Not convinced, I brought car to my regular workshop in JB who specialises in BMW's. After diagnosis, mech replaced 2 o-rings at oil filter housing, and 4 more o-rings on the 2 VANOS solenoids. Viola! Oil leak no more and I'm poorer by less than RM270 - which includes my regular servicing. I brought my own oil, oil filter and air filter though....

And I must say that these guys are super pro! They even did a complete engine wash for me - meticulously cleaning EVERY item that has oil stain. Now my engine bay looks almost like new again! Hahaha!

If anyone here are feeling adventurous enough to head north to service your car, PM me for contact. Just to clarify, I'm NOT related to workshop in anyway. Just a happy customer after saving 90% of what the workshops here tried to charge me...

Re: E90 engine oil leak experience

Francis is getting lots of business from you guys!

He is good with bimmers and charge fair labour prices too.

Only problem you gotta know what parts to buy and bring over.
