ECU Remap For 318i

Hi all,

Currently just get hold of a preowned E90 318. Understand that the engine is basically same as the 320 so was wondering whether is it possible to retune or reflash the ECU to get back the "loss" power. Not hoping much but would be good if can get back to the stock power of 320.

Advise greatly appreciated

believe the 318 to be on N46B18 while the 320s are on N46B20... the latest being N46N20 with 168bhp and 210Nm...

Hi thrust,

the power may not match the 320i but it definitely boost some power then your stock now (after re-flash) .........use light-weight rims.........

improve the handling like upgrade to coilover and sway-bar (ARB)

how to upgrade n46b20 to n46n20 ?

believe the 318 to be on N46B18 while the 320s are on N46B20... the latest being N46N20 with 168bhp and 210Nm...

from 156hp to 168hp should be quite easy..............do a ecu re-flash i supossed

Are you sure there is N46N20?

Based on the pwr & torque, it should be N43B20 O0. It is not sold outside of EU.

It is not as simple as retune or reflash. It might involves some hardware change, like DISA. Honestly, Enjoy ur ride. If pocket itchy, change to 17" Volk Racing wheels that might help with butt feel.

how to upgrade n46b20 to n46n20 ?

guess the N46N20s are Euro versions from 2007+. The BMW web site states the same 168bhp and 210Nm instead of our local versions N46B20s...

and the upgrades may not be all that simple... complete change of ECU, air in-take, MAF, etc... there is another thread going on about ECU reflash, two camps of thought...

so is Boss able to "upgade" 318 to 320 instead since 318 is a detuned version of 320. In terms of engine, what's the different in between them? sorry for noob question....

most notable difference is the hp. am sure they can up the 318 horses using juice box.

my bad... the local 318s are 2L... however, the OMVs are about $5k diff between the 318s and 320s... seems a lot more than just the ECU tuning involved in terms of cost...

the 323s and 325s are different as the OMVs are very both close, so it may just be the ECU tuning...

the 323s and 325s are different as the OMVs are very both close, so it may just be the ECU tuning...

It is more than ECU Tuning.

I think it is more than ECU tuning, like 323 vs 325. It also involves hardware, like DISA. In addition, both 318 & 320 has difference part number for intake manifold.

most tuners site will always mentioned they can up it to near 329 but not match. guess it is due to the disa?
