Re: F10 523 Highline or not?

I have the F10 523 Highline. Definitely worth paying the $15 more. You get the following:

1. Much better sound system than standard
2. Professional Nav with 10.2in screen which is awesome. The smaller screen looks terrible.
3. 18 inch rim (17in looks awkward on the big F10)
4. Ambient light which is cool in dark places and at night. Impress your friends too.
5. park assist no use - I do not use it. Scared it will kerb the rim.
6. Folding door mirror is useful in tight parking spot and anti-glare rear view mirrow

Another must is the Sports Auto transmission with paddle shift and sports steering. This option only cost you another $1100 more and is very worth it.

I also have the Intergral Active Steering which is a $6600 option. Very expensive but makes the car drives a lot better and making u turn and tight parking so easy.

If you no need the park assist then i think the highline is a waste of money... 15K can get you better things in your ride then the highline...

Bro,

If I am not wrong, both Ambient light package and folding mirror are available in the entry version of F10 now.

Re: F10 523 Highline or not?

Does the highline comes with a sunroof or is it an option item?

Re: F10 523 Highline or not?

no sunroof. 535 only. ambient light and folding mirrors are there in 523 normal.

Hi tks, was wondering if the sunroof can be added at additional cost upon request.

if you can afford it, pay for it, if not, later regret also no use once car is manufactured according to your specs! (i guess OMV will also be higher for the highline)

Ya I agree. If you can afford it, everything option add in the best. When you drive and enjoy those add-on, really song. But if you re-sell, the value you get for will way below what you had purchased.

Just like you add body kit here and there, when you want to sell, the dealer will tell you so what you have body kit, its still a car.

Yes I agree, they will always bring out the negative points (i.e. high mileage, accident, currently your car colour not in demand, and the long list begins...........) when taking in your car.

Re: F10 523 Highline or not?

Hi, based on the launch specs, the Highline version had the following additional options over the base version:

1. Navigation Business, which was subsequently upgraded FOC (I think) to Navigation Professional (with the wider screen) - for some reason Navi Business would not work in SG
2. Park Assist
3. 18" rims
4. Folding + anti-dazzle side mirrors
5. Hi Fi loudspeaker system
6. Wood trim

If you add up the cost of the individual items, there are savings of approximately $4+k to be had with the Highline version, as compared to adding on these items to the base version. However, if you do not require Navigation or Park Assist (total cost of $9110), you are still paying $4-5k more than if you were to order the Base model and added the above options. Plus, current 523 base models now include the folding + anti-dazzle side mirrors so there is now less savings to be had. If you do not need Navigation, then the wider screen is not needed for use of the other iDrive functions although I do sometimes wish for the wider screen when accessing songs on the iPod - long titles get cut off.

Ultimately, only you can decide whether you need the extra options on the Highline version and the potential savings to be had when ordering them as a package. For me, I did not need items 1, 2 or 6, paid for item 4 , upgraded item 5 to Hi Fi Professional and traded the 17" rims for the 18" OEMs at a decent price.

For additional options, like Kiasu King, I would highly recommend the sports automatic transmission + sports steering wheel (with paddles). Only $1,100 but you get a better, smaller, steering with with thumb rests and paddles and much better leather cover - Nappa leather?. The Sports/Sport+ mode on the sports automatic transmission transforms the car and makes it feel more like a sporting saloon - and, yes, it does feel very different from merely flicking the gearshift selector to the right. The M-Sport suspension is also good to have. Not too firm (still comfortable for daily driving) but has better body control and reduces roll during cornering.

Re: F10 523 Highline or not?

No idea. You need to check with the parts department. Different springs, dampers, ARB and suspension bushes.

Re: F10 523 Highline or not?

Does the sports automatic transmission + sports steering wheel (with paddles) need to be an indent/factory order? Can this be an add-on after car is delivered?

I am surprised the Intergal Active Steering is not a standard option for 5 series. It's a very useful feature. It was standard in the E60s. PML chop chop chop.

Anyone know I can still add the Sports Automatic Transmission + Sports Steering Wheel with paddleshift after driving for 3mths??? :D didn't know I could pay $1100 more to get it :( if not I will do that...

Re: F10 523 Highline or not?

Highline options is shiok.....

But whether it is worth the extra 15K... it is a different thing.

How often do we really use them....... Autoparking...

Re: F10 523 Highline or not?

I tried the park assist over the weekend. quite good - it managed to squeeze perfectly into a lot that i failed on 2 attempts. (poor parallel parking skills :( )One thing that i am not sure if it also senses if there may be obstacle on the alternate side of the lot. Would be perfect if it does...
