But i have a mindset that i am not going to brake when 388 is braking. So i can easily remove the 388 without uding my own hand.

Why bother about FC when one wan to drive a bum or a conti car... We buy because of the look and feel of the car isn't it

I am not in the group,
I buy BMW because,
I want to hao lian to others on my repair bill, maintenance bill and petrol bill are much higher than toyota altis.
Just for HAO LIAN purpose nia.

Another FC thread


TS, my '96 Nissan March does 9-10km/L for a 1L engine 700kg car. Mai complain. 10km/L for a 1,800kg car is DAMN GOOD.

Was told the average of 10km to a litre (60/40 City/Highway) by one who owned it since it was brand new from 2011 clocking 140K km till date. Seems more than resonable for a car of this size.

Interesting to see a posting from Fishfish that 12L/100km is 'usually' possible.
Here is one way I can try to be more objective to gauge fuel consumption: presumably the ECO PRO will result in highest fuel economy? Then we can check how much fuel savings (ie. the km 'saved') we can achieve for every 550km travelled (ie. I can hit 570 before fuel gauge hits the red mark).
I am on ECO PRO mode almost all the time. By the time my fuel gauge is 60% of the readings, the 'km saved' would show about 13.x km before it restarts to 0km on my next start up. Usually, by the time I cover 550-570km, I would have seen one 13.x km refresh and maybe a 10km reading. In all these cases, my fuel consumption reading shows 9.8L/km.

Presumably for one to achieve 12L/100km, one should be able to see at least two 13.x km refreshes by the time he hits 570km?

Just a thought ...

I have never driven in Eco Pro mode since day 1 ... sorry I cannot tahan driving around in Eco Pro but that's just me. So of course I have never hit 570km for a full tank. Lucky if I can hit 500km ....

Mine is 520i on 18" tyres, 2500km so far, on eco pro most of the time, clocked about 11.4l/100km.

Diesel is the way to go.
You can drive as hard as you want and still gets above 850Km per tank (>13Km/L).
All the fun of 180bhp & 380Nm without worrying of fuel price.
65L Esso 95 @ $2.060 = $133.90
65L Esso Diesel @ $1.300 = $84.50 = 850Km ($133.90 worth of Diesel will return 1,347Km !)

Agreed that Diesel is the best way here. However, the road tax is relatively prohibitive unless one chalks up over 10,000km per year of mileage perhaps. I think I'm hitting 8k per year mileage so still not worth it.

Lets do some calculation:
Diesel : 8,000 km = (8,000km) / (13km/L) = 615L X $1.300 = $799.50
98 Octane petrol: 8,000 km = (8,000km) / (10km/L) = 800L X $2.220 = $1,776 (Diesel save $976.50)
95 Octane petrol: 8,000 km = (8,000km) / (10km/L) = 800L X $2.060 = $1,648 (Diesel save $848.50)

Annual diesel road tax surcharge for a 2,000 cc engine = $800 only.
So even with 8,000km on the meter per year, it's still cheaper.
Saving will be even more for bros who clock more than 8,000Km / year.
