F10 - Jerky start (low gear)?

F10 drivers,

Are any of you experiencing minor jerks when the car starts? It's only when the car is in a low gear, i.e. when you start the car to drive off. There's no noise - just the jerky sensation. The jerks are not significant but being anal, I'm wondering if this is normal. If not, I'll go back to PML and ask them to check.

Thanks!

PS. It could be that the car is new and hasn't been "run in" yet. Just wondering :)

BMW is not to be driven like a pussy. At traffic light, drag race with Sonata a few times. Guarantee no jerky feeling after that.

I'm not sure what to take away from the above.

Are you telling me that it's normal and I should not drive it like I'm riding a bicycle but more like I'm flying a concord?

all the time or only when you just started your car? Mine is E60 and is jerky in the morning but after that will be Smooth As Silk. Thai Airways. Irrelevant

Hmm... good question. So far, the morning. But I'll monitor.

hmm, never realise but will check n let u know..

Re: F10 - Jerky start (low gear)?

Thanks, Ahwing. Just the low gear... at the point of starting the car before you lunge off.

And... so far, in the morning only.

Had the same problem with gear jerking at low speeds, problem was reolved after updating the software. Also if starting from cold wait a few seconds for the transmission oil to get going. This will prevent jerk

Thanks! What software update are you referring to? How would I check if my software is updated? Is there a firmware version note I can locate on the system?

BMW cars have always not been "responsive" on cold starts so you need to drive alittle slower so tht it can get warmed up sufficiently. Sometimes apart from the jerkiness you should have felt change of gears seemed rough

That's why i drive like a pussy in the morning until water temp hits normal range. If drive along, i don't on air cond.

Re: F10 - Jerky start (low gear)?

Bloody E60 does not have temp gauge. I think Bangle forgot to design it in

Re: F10 - Jerky start (low gear)?

Been driving the F10 for 2weeks and in the morning do find the below to be true...

But we weren't sold on everything out of the gate. The 528i had one undeniable drivability quirk, an inconsistent and odd throttle calibration that most, but not all staffers, could not make peace with. It was never a problem on the open road, or at speed, just from a dead stop or at low city speeds. And for some staffers, it was a serious, even unforgivable issue.
