Went do PML to see the F10. Actually, I quite like the front....looks quite aggressive. Hv uploaded a couple of photos.
Some impressions of the F10 (non highline) as compared to my current E60.
.
Exterior:
======
- Nice lights at the door handles
- Boot....seems smaller than E60. Golf bags need to be placed diagonally as the sides of the boot are elevated slightly. Nice well on the rightside to put my running/golf shoes though.
- Boot auto close....no big deal, how many times do I need to close the boot remotely.
- No suction doors (vs E60). No big deal, but the suction doors were a nice unique feature you do not find in other makes at this level.
- No folding mirrors...this is a feature I use every time I park....big negative
- 17" rims...looks a bit small for the car size
interior:
======
- memory seats button on door instead of base of seat....great.
- seats seem wider and more comfortable than E60, but somehow the available space seems a bit narrower....can't explain....maybe due to larger centre console.
- Seat leather seems a bit thicker...rougher??
- drinks holder in the centre now....
- electronic parking brake buttons...gotta get used to it.
- no more cruise control stalk to accidentally hit when turning corners....great
- still no space for tissue box....don't germans use tissue paper in vehicle at all?
- no reverse camera....this should be standard by now.
- no navigation...no big deal in singapore
Engine:
======
- 204 bhp vs 218 bhp....not sure how this will translate in actual driving. F10 has 8 speed gears but is heavier...gotta test drive to know.
OMV
====
- Lower than E60, but price is much higher
- Given the market conditions going forward, it means that future F10s will come in with more features to entice buyers.
Servicing
=======
- Heard that servicing computer needs to link to Germany now to diagnose the F10.
- Does that mean we are tied in to PML workshop for all services now?
Still deciding whether to upgrade, despite having booked the car at pre COE rise prices....Somehow, I thought that the decision would be straight forward after seeing the car, but it is not. The features of the 523i (base) just feels basic as compared to my current 525i. Perhaps after the test drive....hopefully.
