Heres my experience in using this blackvue.

Beside the initial mixed up tapping the correct power in the fusebox, so far no problems. When i went to redo the wiring today, the supplier happened to be around and offered to help me upgrade to the latest firmware.

For those with rear sunblind on f10, installation is not a problem. You just need to mount about 2cm from the top and it will clear. I am not too sure about other models. I have the high-assist sensor in front but since this feature is useless in sg i decided to just block it. The blackvue can only tilt but not pan, so die die must mount in the centre.

Parking mode is reliable so far. Any abnormality such as flashing of headlamps or movement it will record. But what i observe is that if you park outdoor under the rain it will record in parking mode non-stop. in full hd mode, the 16GB only last 4 hours plus so beware not to run out of space. It will overwrite the earliest videos. You can choose in write in 1, 2 or 3 mins block.

The clarity is there. I have about 30% tinting in front and it is very clear even at night but for my 70% tint at the back it is abit too dark at night. So if you have a darker tint please beware.

Btw the supplied software only for windows. I have to run virtualbox on my mac.

Nice bro, where did u get yours install? Now u make me have 2nd thoughts to increase my front tint to 30% from 70%.

Nice write up bro  Damn my rear is 30% tinting... Seems like pointless to install the HD version cam...

Yeah i mix up. It should be 70% in front and 30% at the back. Let me post a video for night later.

Re: Front video camera - for security at night and road accidents

I did installation at the recommended workshop too. So far so good. =)

Re: Front video camera - for security at night and road accidents

Update: One of my blackvue units just went dead a few days ago. Need to go down workshop do a exchange next week.

Re: Front video camera - for security at night and road accidents

What happened? How did you know that it went dead?

I just discovered my 400HD unit's internal battery went dead. Usually, when I unplug the power from the unit, it will announce "Your Blackvue unit is shutting down"... Last night when I unplug to power to extract video from microSD, the unit just went dead without "shutting down" properly....

Sigh.... I was hoping that Korean quality would be better than those MICkey-mouse brands... but seem like all also can't stand the Singapore heat...

It just won't power up anymore. No sound no light nothing. I swap another unit to confirm it is not the power cable. Another thing i notice the blackvue always quite warm. And i don't even park in any open carpark. Maybe its the weather these few days.

:oooops: Sorry to hear that...

When all else fails try the final desperation method - remove the unit and knock it real hard on a solid surface.... People used to do this to computer monitors in the good-old-days of PC with huge monitors. There's even an engineering term for it - it's called a "technical tap".... hahah...

I will send it back and most likely they will do a 1-1. But warranty only one year, i don't foresee it lasting very long :shakehea:

Re: Front video camera - for security at night and road accidents

Once awhile sure got failure one... moreover, havent seen reports of high failure rates. Keeping fingers crossed. My 2 units still ok.

I guess you are right. Hopefully it don't break down when its service is needed. Everyday i encounter lousy drivers on the road. Always on alert. Once in a while i am also one of the lousy drivers.
