Front video camera - for security at night and road accidents

Re: Front video camera - for security at night and road accidents

i had no problem so far with all these. install 3 weeks already. which fuse blow and any warranty problem? so PML is ok with the installation and thereby ask u try again?

if fuse blow..one of your device cannot work. so is the UI down?

I have 2 cam plus magic box. U also same? Where is urs connected to, batt or fusebox? May I knw where u did ur installation too? Thank u
They said ok because no mod was done, hence won't void warranty.
Serviceside claim that The cams were tapping on the internal wire for electricity it causes one of the fuse to blow in the fusebox. Which fuse blow I am not sure, too many fuses in the fusebox. But strangely,my cams were still working, if I didn't rmbr wrongly. So I wonder is it due to my cams fault or is it something else.
Yes it cause my car to slow dwn and indicate need servicing.

Bro go 833 Motorsports to install. My 2 cam with magic box working fine after 3 days. Error message is there but can be ignored.

833 Motorsports

Re: Front video camera - for security at night and road accidents

yup same 833. where is yours done? the power is tap from the fuse box in the glove compartment. can trace the cables to the fuse rack. and not just to internal cables.

do u have black and white of them claiming this is not a mod? i think a lot of ppl hold back becos of warranty concern. i did mine cause i know is not difficult to dismantle. the problem now is like what St8800 mentioned, u get batt warning..but according to the AD(wow gadget, it happens on some BMW but not all...i think F10 has this problem even when i read US forum abt it)

On my A4, i know they tap to the UI power cable, and is not difficult to remove them. but on the BMW, i don't know where is my UI cable, and it seems to me it is connected the UI fuse or sthg...so that time your car lose power is because of BV?

Re: Front video camera - for security at night and road accidents

Oh ya... just go down, difficult to make appointment as they never answer phone.

Looks like ur installation is the same as mine. Servicing side claims that my installer did not place the fuse back to the right compartment of the fusebox.
There is no black and white by them. So as long no modification or cutting has been done, shd be fine in the terms of warranty.
Yes lost power due to BV which was claim by servicing side

Re: Front video camera - for security at night and road accidents

Yes they will... I also didn't buy from them. $30 for front. $50 for back.

Re: Front video camera - for security at night and road accidents

who is your is your installer?

fuse put in wrong compartment can actually cause it to blow...sthg new i learn and that BV installation resulted in the car lost power...
anyway shld be fine if all do properly. looks like the lost power from BV can be safely ignored now given PML replies to u

fuse blown hence the car slowed down, actually BMW cars will slow down if there is a fault for safety reasons.
Sorry bro, not nice and fair if I were to mention the company name here, he was very helpful when the problem arises during then, furthermore, do not know if it is really due to BV too. Pai seh

Re: Front video camera - for security at night and road accidents

Hmmm... my electronics maybe going bonkers... yesterday when open doors. Side mirror don't open. Have to lock again... then unlock... then they will open. Dunno is is cos of the BV. Will continue to monitor and update.

Re: Front video camera - for security at night and road accidents

Ok according to Puffer, it's normal. BMW has a electrical monitoring system built in that will stop supply electric other areas like auto side mirror open once battery level falls to a certain level. This can also happen if previous traveled distance was too short. However, it will still carry on to supply power to the cams until the level where the magic box was configured.

Very chiem I know but small price to pay for peace of mind.

Re: Front video camera - for security at night and road accidents

I just went get my pair of blackvues installed today with power magic. The installation was fast and everything is hidden neatly. The installer spend effort carefully positioning the cameras in the centre but when i got home to view the video, it is still slightly off-centre. Maybe i am just very ke gao. But one more thing is i notice the parking mode may not turn on properly. Just now i return to my car i notice the blackvue is totally off and when i power on my car i can hear the startup tone.

Looks like the blackvues are connected to the fuses box... which means when engine is off, battery supply to the cam will be cut... in this set up, the power magic is redundant... according to bro lkm, the installer should tap to the IU power supply if you wish to use the parking mode properly... but you will experience errors and your ride's electrical parts may act weirdly at times...

The funny thing is the blackvue is still on after i power down my car. It continues to record for about 10 minutes in normal mode. After that, instead of automatically switching over to parking mode, it just shuts down:verysad:

That is the normal behavior of electrical set up in BMW ride... After the engine is off, the electric supply is still on for 10-15mins... When I did my JB last time, after engine is off... the door and bonnet has to be left open and key has to be put far away... becos have to wait till the electrical supply to the ECU to be cut off before the JB can be installed... hope that helps... dun be sad... just go back to the installer and tell them to tap from the IU power supply...

Thanks for the explanation! :D Looks like I have to go back and look for them.

Re: Front video camera - for security at night and road accidents

I got it corrected today. Now working nicely.

Re: Front video camera - for security at night and road accidents

Heres my experience in using this blackvue.

Beside the initial mixed up tapping the correct power in the fusebox, so far no problems. When i went to redo the wiring today, the supplier happened to be around and offered to help me upgrade to the latest firmware.

For those with rear sunblind on f10, installation is not a problem. You just need to mount about 2cm from the top and it will clear. I am not too sure about other models. I have the high-assist sensor in front but since this feature is useless in sg i decided to just block it. The blackvue can only tilt but not pan, so die die must mount in the centre.

Parking mode is reliable so far. Any abnormality such as flashing of headlamps or movement it will record. But what i observe is that if you park outdoor under the rain it will record in parking mode non-stop. in full hd mode, the 16GB only last 4 hours plus so beware not to run out of space. It will overwrite the earliest videos. You can choose in write in 1, 2 or 3 mins block.

The clarity is there. I have about 30% tinting in front and it is very clear even at night but for my 70% tint at the back it is abit too dark at night. So if you have a darker tint please beware.

Btw the supplied software only for windows. I have to run virtualbox on my mac.
