True. The new Gen Bimmers have too much wired into them. Mucking around with the electronics is stronly discouraged.

Fortunately my car is more oldskool. So the powerbox should work nicely. How much is the unit btw?

Mine Pre-FL E90 must belong to the old-skool then... hahah.... Installed with power magic. So far so good - no warnings.

Now that I m very comfortable with it, I just ordered another one from Xavier to install at the rear. Hopefully he got ex-stock and I can pickup tomorrow. But those who run lion, better don't tell your wife. Later she use this to check your movement.... u faint haha....

Bro st8800, your rear tint run lion type or not??? if so, orr orr ler... the blackvue can shoot clearly, especially at night???

Yes, it comes with the GPS locator but I didn't install the power magic box because of feedback that it doesn't work well with BMW electronics.

The power magic should be transparent to the car's electronics. The power drawn by the box is negligible compared to the power drawn by the cam. In fact, the box theoratically *should* save the car's batt from a deep discharge leh.

For everyone else here who's lucky enough to own a super-latest ultra-high-tech beemer whose electronics can detect the most miniscule of current leak when car is stationary, suggest you hook up the cam to cigarette lighter socket. This way, car won't make an electronic fuss. Downside is that you can't do recording when car in parking mode. Recording only happens when driving...

Oh, BTW, I've got a BRAND NEW spare Power Magic in a nice nice box to let go for $36.... What happened is that installers wired up my installed Power Magic wrongly and I thought there was something wrong with the box. So I bought another new one for troubleshooting. Only to later find out that it was a wiring problem and not a power magic problem.... sigh.... So now I ended up with one spare brand new, never installed Power Magic.... PM me if interested...

Actually now at 833 installing rear cam. Also putting in Power Magic box. Will update progress..

Helbreath: got good things must share ma... the supplier is a nice chap some more. Got support n after sales too.

Centurion: night cam this is the best there is... my video was around 7:30... Will try n take a later one.

Wahahha.... I tested the blackvue at very low lighting at night... Can't seem to capture too much detail leh. It's not meant to be a night-vision cam lah.... But when headlights are turned on, the video captured becomes much more usable.... With street lights, still okay... That said, I think the blackvue is one of the best quality cams out there already....

Is it stored on a separate HDD or some SD card type device? How long will it be stored for, i.e. I'm assuming that once the memory is full, it'll be overwritten? Very nice... quite keen to invest on this.

I bought a much cheaper type of in-car video cam.. simple installation & just plug & play.. very clear during day & even night recording.
Continue recording can be set at either 2 or 5 or 10mins for each video clips, and it overwrites the very first video clips once the memory is full

Hi St8800, is urs connected to fusebox? So far is ur drive ok?
Because mine was connected to fusebox too, then vehicle has problem after 2 days. Servicing side told me a fuse was burn due to video cam and power magic tapping on electricity frm the internal wires. They advice to only reinstall after my run in.
I will be reinstalling again, as I feel it shd be a one time off coincidence event.
