Actually, most of the engine bay is waterproof, only the alternator that u have to be careful. The side vents are fine, and the centre vent is above the radiator fan shroud. Went over to R2D and Rod could feel the heat coming out from the centre and side vents.

Now thinking of adding some metal grilles to trap leaves and what-not from entering the engine bay...

Cheers!

Re: Group Buy - E92/E93 Vorsteiner V35 CF Bonnet

chio chio man!!!!! u cld fabricate some panel under the vents to channel away rainwater off to the sides, allows air out but wun get ur engine wet

Re: Group Buy - E92/E93 Vorsteiner V35 CF Bonnet

M3 has something similar that leads into intake. Assume thers are different paths inside intake that separates air vs. water/leaves, etc.

Vorsteiner bonnet looks chio indeed :)

Going to Autobacs to get the mesh and ask Rod to do something about it. Toying with the idea of adding bonnet insulation to the bottom of the bonnet to prevent the bonnet from turning hazy due to the heat of the engine.

Dude, water will definitely go in.

Was at East Coast having my dinner last night and there was a big downpour. My car was not sheltered so water definitely went into the engine bay. It started up fine and drove to a mate's birthday bash. By the time I came back to the car, the engine bay was dry due to the heat. Came home, took out some WD-40 and sprayed the nuts & bolts, just as a preventative method.

U can seal up the vents if u don't want to have water going in but I am just going to get some wire mesh to stop leaves from entering.

Cheers!

Mak/Simon, dun get too worried about water slippages. Like the e46 version, Vorsteiner designed this bonnet with the engine bay in mind. The side vents are sitting above the coolant reservoir (left, below the windshield wiper tank) and the power steering fluid tank (right, the green ring), both of which are water-proof. The centre vent sits above the air-intake shield.....

In my e46, I have ever left the car in heavy rain for over 24 hours, and it has proven the water-drench test. When driving, rain cannot penetrate the engine bay given the way the vents are designed.

For my car, the vents are good for heat dissipation........

Sam, got steam last night?
