How much engine oil needed for f30 320?

I'm not worried about the exact conversion cos I have us quart bottles of imported oil. Generally, anybody else who also buys these us import bottles would bring their own oil to the workshop. Some workshops say 7L for the six cylinders, some say 6.5L, some say 6.9 us quarts. So I don't really wanna go on workshop advice alone.

I'm not looking for exact numbers because of performance etc, just want to know how much roughly is poured in for a servicing. And not be short or overfilled.

So don't worry about conversions. I just wanna know to how many quarts to give the guy. If somebody gave me the answer in Litres I could convert it. But thankfully, a couple of guys here seem to have some answers from their experience.

Please make you life less stressful and use the engine oil dip-stick as guide to fill the engine oil. From the min mark to max mark it takes almost 1000cc or 1 litre...so the workshops ain't wrong to quote you 6.5l to 7l.

Also if you are concerned (confirm you will from the way you've expressed) after the job done just pull out the dip-stick and check again.

You are very lucky that me converse with you in almost proper England......please don't make me do it anymore...can!? stress lah.

Btw, there's no physical dipstick. Thus my question. But thanks for trying to help.

No offense intended to you, so please don't think I'm trying to imply anything about the models being advanced yeah?

Sometimes I feel the more advanced the more problematic. Oil sensors can't beat a physical dipstick for long term reliability.

Hondas aren't cheap anymore. Not with our coe structure.

Re: How much engine oil needed for f30 320?

hahaha.....no hard feeling lah.
thats' no quite right for bmw F30 even a vw has oil sensors + dipstick measurement feature in case electronics fail.
my W204 also has both.....strange design for F30!

Re: How much engine oil needed for f30 320?

doesnt the N20 have a dipstick?

i'm rude. bite me.

Re: How much engine oil needed for f30 320?

Actually e90 already don't have. Quite inconvenient actually. If oil leaks and at the same time sensor kaput, that's it!

No physical dipstick for my unit. Though some others' might have one - strictly depending on the owner.

By sharing your findings, it would help on the discussion rather than juz a simple question. This is a community for sharing (2 ways traffic).

I am staying here to learn despite not driving F30.

Just to recap my findings since starting this thread (cos it's been flooded with a lot of irrelevant and less-than-useful responses), it seems that from owners feedback (SG and otherwise) - an oil change would require 5 US (for the metric-obsessed I've met in this thread) quarts (tip for all the MX trading/Giant hypermart customers) or 4.73176 Liters (for the math-obsessed I've met in this thread).

Some points I have heard is that its safer to under fill slightly and do a computerized oil check followed by top up if necessary. I personally feel slight underfill is better than any overfill.

No, the bloody car manual doesn't state anything on this. No, there is no physical dipstick to check.

So, you probably don't want to pour in 6 US quarts (5.67812 Liters) straight off (horror! google can't be wrong! Oh right, it depends how you apply the info). Maybe 6.1 US quarts is the true oil capacity of the N20 but suitable only when the engine is completely drained. I don't know for sure, but i'm going with 5 US quarts (4.73176 Liters). I've run over 6000km and current oil measurement is still at 100% so oil consumption is q low.

I'm only bothering for the benefit of other owners who may genuinely need the info. I hope it saves you from posting separately and having to go thru crap, caustic responses like i did, to get barely 5 genuine, relevant responses. If anyone wants to know more after i'm done with my oil change, feel free to PM.

Re: How much engine oil needed for f30 320?

Just to share:

I did my servicing @ PML using my own choice of EO, that was in Feb when my ride was nearing 5000km.
I brought along 7 quartz (946ml x 7), collection time they returned me 5 empty bottles + 2 unopen bottles.
Servicing charge with own EO was S$96-97 (Just EO servicing).

Hope this information is useful for fellow ppls.

just curious, why would they return you empty bottles? should ask them help you throw away or send for recycling.

Think it's their SOP.
If not customer will think they might have put in their Shell Helix Ultra... and took those bottles to sell :p

Bro, you bought the F30 320i for your parents! Great! I am the one you PM and we discuss 316i vs 320i.

Anyway, most AD I go to do this as well. I always give them back the empty bottles and ask them to dump
for me.
