Yeah, went with the 320 in the end. Too bad the loan restrictions only kicked in after that... very poor timing for me. Hope you're enjoying your car?

a friend tested the 316 over the weekend, said its really good for city driving (better than his Benz) and the suspension setup is great. so looks like a strong choice despite the perceived power differential.

Another friend just collected his a 316 too, so its proving v popular!

Better not OT on your thread else I get warn,….

I think the bias is from the fact that it is smallest engine and hence not worthy but I am not sure how many actually drive it long enough to judge! My is MSport and the eqpt level is close to my GS300 sans the active suspension.

My timing is not good at all having secured the most exp Cat A COE! However, at promo price and the price disparity on
my trade-in if I dd it later kind of even out.
I downgrade from the Mk6 GTI and I assure you that I don't miss the power/torque as the 316i is a peppy car.
Of course, the 1.6l engine can be straining when pushed but I think those that went down from Bimmer 6cyl would
think the same for all Bimmer 4potters. There is always the piggyback route to make up for the shortfall,…
When the new 1.5l 3cyl turbo is released with 170hp, that would be great!
