Improvement of Fuel economy with equipment and driving technique.

Re: Improvement of Fuel economy with equipment and driving technique.

i not worrying, but bad FC means your car is not healthy, so must see doctor.

Solve problem must from the roots...

Re: Improvement of Fuel economy with equipment and driving technique.

Bad FC usually translate to heavy right foot, which in turn is good to clear some of the carbon build up :laughlik:

Re: Improvement of Fuel economy with equipment and driving technique.

Just buy a diesel when time comes... You will be smiling to the petrol kiosk

Re: Improvement of Fuel economy with equipment and driving technique.

But cannot go Malaysia leh ..... Unless bring 2 jerry cans ?

Re: Improvement of Fuel economy with equipment and driving technique.

Its illegal to go past checkpoint with that...

On pure city drive consumption, it is still enough to drive from SG -> KL -> SG.

Re: Improvement of Fuel economy with equipment and driving technique.

1 tank can drive to kl and back?

Improvement of Fuel economy with equipment and driving technique.

Totally. In city traffic with speeds averaging below 30kph I am already getting almost 800km on 1 tank. Less than 30kph is really bad traffic, I usually do around 35-36kph averages but recently doing abit more peak hour traffic. Once I get back on my usual routine I'll see if it goes above 900-1000km. Pretty sure it would do that on NSHW. The diff ratio on the diesel is tall and at 110kph the engine is doing less than 2,000 rpms.

Re: Improvement of Fuel economy with equipment and driving technique.

like that diesel engines really seem more efficient than petrol engines. But if demand gets high, diesel prices will rise.

I think your ride can adjust the EGR - that should help make the FC even more efficient .......

Reduce or increase EGR?

Increase ..............

Increase ..............

That would cause more gunk to build up in the intake tract, no? Also lowers combustion temp... how does that help with FC? I thought it was for emissions.

That would get less exhaust gas into your combustion chambers and increase efficiencies..........

Redirecting exhaust gas back into your engine while displacing fresh air - yikes ...... And getting the Diesel engine tuned as well would get some more mileage .....

Huh sibey confused. Increase EGR = increased exhaust gas recirculation = MORE exhaust gas into intake. No? My understanding wrong meh. For efficiency, it should be reduce EGR.

My only concern is that the reduction in EGR (i.e. LESS exhaust recirculated into the intake) would mean higher emissions and would also cause the DPF to clog up faster. This may be counter-intuitive if the car keeps doing a passive regen of the DPF by injecting fuel into the exhaust.

Let's take this offline bro... will buzz you soon. Very busy this and next week (due to a shorter week).

Haha ! The parameters for EGR is counter intuitive ...... You tweak it by increasing or decreasing fresh air - which is what the parameter for EGR is referring to .....

That controls the EGR valve - all else remains status quo including the dpf regen.........

What? We still discussing FC?
