Hi Singsider,

Does your car come with paddle shifters?

I understand from speaking to MA parts specialist that F20 has 2 transmission. The sports transmission and the normal one.

Only the sports transmission can be fitted with paddle shifters.

You used your vin correct? What if pml 118i has a different transmission? I know that pml transmission for the 118i is the non-sports version as I was trying to retrofit paddle shifters.

Cheers

Yes i used my VIN. You can try it too - real oem bmw website. After entering your vin, look under automatic transmission. You should see a model number with 8hp45 in it. Only applies to auto, not manual.

TRD aka Throttle Response Device aka Sprint Booster is a custom tuned throttle control unit from Dr Hannson. It has 22 customised settings to tweak the responsiveness of the throttle. Can be quite addictive if your resistance level is low.
hi bro, can i add TRD with swiss chiptech. is it compatible?

They're both different devices for targeting specific parts of the performance or response.

Long story short is YES

are there any other brands to recommend bro? i am quite noob on this. currently i am on swiss chiptech, i just want more response and acceleration upon stepping the acceleration pedal.

Re: Kelleners Sport

I wish I could but my car is stock atm.

Give the guys here a day or two to reply, they're a really friendly bunch with needle sharp teeth that inject deadly poison.

No lah, I think if want Monster car must change too many things to support ;)

I did put on a tuning box though. As Forrestgum shared with me, the difference is huge!!

erm ... at least from my perspective as well.

Hopefully by the GTG it will have adapted. But seriously, if you're going to do mods and Stage 1 is out due to no ECU tuning options, the tuning box is a must do best ROI thing.

cheers

Can u describe your tune? How is the low end?

Definitely feel more torque in the low end even at low rpm. The map is not too bad but definitely going for fine tuning (with dyno).

Will need to let the adaptation kick in over the next few days.

Cheers

Re: Kelleners Sport

Sunstorm, why don't you start a new Monster tune thread so we don't OT from the Kelleners tune.

Good idea. I'll post up somemore sharing when the car has adapted.

Just to wrap this up, I asked for the same things when I asked for my Jetta tune.

"Must beat Sonata cab from traffic lights" LOL

This is the funniest thing i've heard all day.

You will be surprised that some uses sonata cab as a benchmark to determine whether the car or chip is good. ..

Did some research.. the Sonata 2L CRDI (comfort Sonata cab) runs at around 305nm. However, its kerb weight of 1660kg is substantial. So if a F20 116i can hit 300nm from say 1500rpm onwards, it should smoke a Sonata anyday, given its lower kerb weight of 1385kg. :)

Re: Kelleners Sport

At the green light, the Sonata may pull away cos of it's superior torque n diesel's burning properties, but you'll catch up as your superior BHP takes over n the diesel's burning fizzles out.

But I wouldn't race with a cab driver anyway, waste of fuel n a danger to others.
