Price! Price!

Spoke to the Monster dudes today - they are looking at $1088 for GB price. (Regular price 1.3k) Min 5 orders.. :) Not sure if it includes dyno time or not, will have to check with them. Their in-house dyno will only be ready around Oct this year.

Would strongly recommend you go for a base-run dyno session first before purchasing!

Leistung: performance
Motorleistung: engine perf
Rad leistung: wheel perf
Schleppleistung: towing
Drehmoment: Torque
0.0% correction

The chart shows 150ps but the numbers show 145.3ps. Why the discrepancy?
The torque is really pushing the gearbox!

Next week let's go for a spin!

Re: Kelleners Sport

Yeah baby yeah! This morning i saw a black 116 driven by a woman - zoomed off at the lights and out ran my car. I was driving normally, so the car is either really quick or she was really stepping on it.

I've done some research on our gearbox lately and every source points to it having a torque limit of 450nm. So i think it can handle 300nm easily. :)

I really hope so, if it is really 450nm then I'm won't have to be worried about breaking 300nm point. Though if you look at some tunes, it's odd that they all don't cross the 300nm for the 118 though I'm sure it can easily pass 300nm.

Collected your car already?

There's a good reason for that, but its got nothing to do with the gearbox. 20% gain on boost is a safe increase for tuning boxes as it is well within engine tolerances and the boost headroom as programmed in the ecu. You will notice that for ecu tuned cars, you can reprogram this headroom so the car won't go into limp mode when boost exceeds 30% or more compared to stock. 20% increase on 250nm is 300nm.

I also wanna remind you that our gearbox is also used on the diesel f20 models, and their tunes easily hit 400nm or more.

Re: Kelleners Sport

Better retune it to 100bhp and 180nm. Car can last till one die

Lots of 116 tunes give 280nm peak, even the SB above gives 300.

My guess is they don't want to cross 300 for the 118, implying our gb is 300nm limited. The diesels run a diff gearbox from the petrol ones.

The driver will die of boredom before the car does. Thinking about it, how many of us will go back to cars of these specs?

I'm quite sure all the 8-speed automatics for F20 run on the 8HP45 gearbox from ZF, whether diesel or petrol. Below is a document that states it:

http://www.bimmerpost.com/goodiesforyou/1/f20/uk/technicalspecs.pdf

I checked with a few stockist websites, and it confirms that the 118i runs on the 8HP45, not the 8HP30.

RealOEM.com Diagram Selection

Buy transmission for BMW 1 (F20) 1 (F20) 118i - Online Shop Akadia, Moscow

Finally, the product brochure for the 8HP45, from ZF website, Page 2:

http://www.zf.com/media/media/img_1/corporate/products/innovation/8hp/www_11_023884zfge_8HP_Produkt_EN.PDF

So based on the above supporting information, I concluded that our car has a 450nm torque limit. :)

Thanks for the links. Let's talk more about it next week at the GTG. Maybe a 118 which has a tune will come to tempt me.

Imagine a 118i with 400nm torque...

Truly going to be a Monster car.

If it happens, likely only a short sprinter.

Lungs not big enough for sustainability.

Re: Kelleners Sport

Hi Singsider,

Does your car come with paddle shifters?

I understand from speaking to MA parts specialist that F20 has 2 transmission. The sports transmission and the normal one.

Only the sports transmission can be fitted with paddle shifters.

You used your vin correct? What if pml 118i has a different transmission? I know that pml transmission for the 118i is the non-sports version as I was trying to retrofit paddle shifters.

Cheers
