KW V2 coilover for F10

Re: KW V2 coilover for F10

Had a v3 previously - being that its a 3 way adjustable - You have to tweak the low speed bump and damper settings.

There are ways to compensate to an extent.

Personally - for the 3 years that I had that ...... It rode like rails when go into and out of a corner. It helped with the braking and the steering was very crisp. Was happy for the first 6 months.

Over time, the traffic in SG became worst. I could rarely get out of a corner to make use of the v3 in the day. And the rest of the time was spent feeling the imperfections of the roads - every speed strip, seperators, expansion gaps with the slow moving traffic. The biggest mistake was adding those H&R ARBs that linked the suspension. It was so hard that the independence of the suspension was reduced. Made my teeth chatter when it goes over a fallen branch over on the left wheels because the Arbs transfer all sorts of forces to the right side. And when all that road constructions came into the picture, it did not help.

What I would say is - It's only great for night drives ........ :)

Hopefully bmw release the software upgrade for preFL F10 steering cos they supposedly improved it in the LCi with newer software.
Throttle lag i think its common nowadays when driving in NORMAL mode cos manufacturers are trying to lower emission
Drive in sports mode la

BTW, i dun feel my car laggy even in NORMAL mode

Hopefully it's just a software update. If it's hardware + software, or they discontinue support for the preLCI, then it's too bad.

Yeah, no lag in Sports mode but not nice to drive in Sports mode all the time with the high RPM holding. Mine still lags a bit in Normal mode. Sometimes want to filter into another lane, so step on gas. But then no response at all for split second, then downshifts and RPM shoots up. Sianz

I suppose you drive too gentle most of the time ....

This is my first coilover, so I was a little worried at first. But surprisingly, the ride is not too harsh in the F10.

Stock ARB though.

Re: KW V2 coilover for F10

So now.. V2 or V3...hmmmmm:thinking:

Re: KW V2 coilover for F10

based on the f10post many feedbacks

V1 = street use = value for money but not able to set rebound. hence, a bit hard for some users
V2 = street use = more than good enough
V3 = track use

V3 can be tweaked to street use too but there are just too many settings to play with

V2 = height adjustable with 16 clicks for rebound settings

< 10 clicks = those who like it hard to harder
10 clicks = sibei comfort liao
> 10 clicks = a bit soft but some like it ... can also set front 8 clicks (50%), rear 10 clicks (passenger comfort)

Re: KW V2 coilover for F10

seriously this is a good and informative thread!
allow me to chip in my 2 cents worth!
i m on lowered H&R spring...mainly because
1) CHEAP>>>>>> look good can liao!
2)if i change to coil over....where M I gonna store my exsiting shocks??
3) since nobody is gonna buy my exsiting stock must as well use it.

so far i been on spring for 1-2 months liao...i find it good ley.
btw i only use for daily driving...my 523 cannot loot fast also. cup corner ....not bad( better then stock)
only when my absorbers chut liao then i will consider simi coil over. BTW my H&R spring plus installation is only $630++

Re: KW V2 coilover for F10

I think stock+lowering spring or KW depends on each driver's demand

If you dun expect very good handling around corners then maybe lowering spring is fine
And the stock like ride comfort is what this setup can give.

If driver wants surefooted handling then upsize rim and coilover is the way to go.
Some will find KW V2 too stiff but there are some that find V2 not hard enough

End of the day its a not right/better or wrong/worse issue
Its only a matter of preference
And that is the reason aftermarket parts manufacutrers exsit, from BC to KW to Ohlin and not forgetting M Performance

Re: KW V2 coilover for F10

lowering spring is also good.
spore road condition is very good hence lowering spring deliver acceptable results. besides, the drive distance is short.
i used lowering spring before. it change my mind completely when i drive in nsh (high speed) and msia slip road that is beaten up badly by lorry and truck ... tyre/fender rub whenever going up/down too much due to even road

Yes, it's a matter of personal taste. Lowering springs are ok, but I just find the stock dampeners are still too soft for this big F10, hence the floating ride. Like bro Val101 said, with the KW, the car settles down really fast.

I think the V2 is more than enough. There are a lot of settings in V3 but eventually will become too lazy to adjust anyway :)

I think V3 is better, adjust to your PERFECT setting and leave it there once and for all

That's why my neighbour keep his stock rim for going malaysia.
But very few ppl will take the effort to change wheel just to go over.

No wonder you say stock is best
BTW my car still stock now

Re: KW V2 coilover for F10

actually the more u mod the more...u.wishes to remain stock...
but modding a virus! onces u start u cannot stop.
but u wanted to mod.........is confusing!

Re: KW V2 coilover for F10

after all my modding finishes, I gian to demod and go back stock cos suddenly stock become damn rare on the roads..
