after all my modding finishes, I gian to demod and go back stock cos suddenly stock become damn rare on the roads..

Re: KW V2 coilover for F10

For those on lowered spring, will shocks life shorten because of lowered spring? There is diff in ride height btw both.

How about this combi, coilover + 17" rim? Lowered to 1 finger gap. Coilover can be set to quite stiff with extra sidewall as cushion.

.

I had lowering springs on my E60 and now on my F10.

For E60, my stock shocks wore out about 70% at 4th year... I was told its normal wear and tear and not caused by the springs. But then my driving patterns damn pussy one. I dun corner hard or do hard driving..sibeh luxury driving. As such my experience cannot speak for others who drive their cars hard or harder than me..

F10 I am still monitoring..driving pattern hasn't changed. I see when the stock shocks wear out. But damn F10 design. Wanna change rear shock the whole cb rear seats must tia..sibeh lay cheh!

So if want to DIY adjust V2/V3 setting must access from speaker mesh ah :wtf:

Re: KW V2 coilover for F10

today sent in the car to install the pre-stressed spring
after installed the pre-stressed spring i find the ride is actually harsher
look at the pre-stressed spring being compressed almost back-to-back and yet the car height is still below my expectation
at the end ask the workshop to remove the pre-stressed spring and redo to original setting
collect my car at 8pm. the guys working OT on my car to get it done
i thank the workshop (it's FOC btw) and probably going for another mod liao ... the dark force is sibei strong

Yes, that's why I guessed that the pre stressed spring only matters when the purple threaded ring is near the bottom (max slammed position) and the spring is not compressed. The loose spring will rattle and might make clunking noises.

Re: KW V2 coilover for F10

Bro,

Make sure you avoid potholes .... here's KW's comments on their design principle. I think you should write to their German office and ask for their help on tackling the harshness. Maybe you should be using a softer spring rate. Double check on the installation procedure as well. The box should come with the instruction manual. Try to use it.

My helper spring is fully compressed, is this normal?

Yes, that is how it is designed. When your suspension is fully extended, the main spring is free to move around and can come dislodged from its perches without a helper spring. The helper spring is only there to retain pressure on the main spring when the shock is fully extended so that the main spring stays in place.

Re: KW V2 coilover for F10

thanks RBB for your comment
will use the current setting for awhile and see how it goes
both my front and rear the purple ring nut is at least 1/2 way up the thread or higher ... should be ok to avoid bottoms out
spore road is pretty fine ... it's the msia slip road that has mines of potholes :(

Coilover + 17in should be quite comfy for bmw drivers
But the look cannot make it leh, when lowered the wheels will move nearer to the inside and car will look like rim have wrong offset.

If i find KW Street Comfort too stiff and dun want the floaty feeling of the stock suspension, any other setup in between ?

Re: KW V2 coilover for F10

18" non runflat tyre + acs spring + edc set to sport (if comfort generates floaty feeling already)

Am on 18 run flat and stock spring.
EDC set to SPORT also float.
Maybe when you jack up MW car to take out his rims, i will take out his lowering spring.

BTW anybody have xiaopang new contact number ?
I rem he have lots of F10 parts to sell, maybe can get lowering spring from him....

You sure your car has edc? Having the sport button does not necessarily mean it has edc. For mine, the sport just changes the steering and the transmission.

I think you might want to try out just keeping everything stock and just change to the thicker M5 ARB/sway bar first. So far the feedback is quite positive. This way you keep the stock height and still have decent comfort.

Re: KW V2 coilover for F10

yes, pml 535i specs include adaptive drive option

When i switch EDC to SPORTS i can feel suspension stiffen up a little and a little less roll
But basically still floaty feeling

Bro, you already said OPTION.
PML std 535 dun have Adaptive Drive, only have Dynamic Driving Control which is adjustable suspension.

time for KW DDC.....

cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeers

Re: KW V2 coilover for F10

I could be wrong, but dynamic drive control is just the sport mode, eco, comfort etc switch.

Dynamic drive is the very expensive option that comes with don't know what active stabilization and active arb...hear say the price can buy 4-5 set of kw v3

EDC is the electronic damper control...or dynamic damper control or something lah. I may not get the names right, but idea is there.

A f10 can have DDC without EDC. Actually most f10 on our roads are like that. How to know if your car has electronic damper?
For older f10 prior to late 2011...if you have normal mode and comfort mode, then you have. If you only have normal then you don't have edc loh.
For later f10...if you have comfort mode AND comfort+ mode, then you have. Otherwise if you only have comfort mode, then don't have edc.
